I'm as caught up with this show as I can be.

Saturn is starting to get on my daggone nerves.

This is actually surprisingly funny.

Expy cheat sheet!

  • Dreamcast is Neptune
  • Saturn is Noire
  • Megadrive is a mashup of the last two.

[down]You could say that also.

Wouldn't Megadrive be Blanc with a better attitude?

I like Megadrive's dance in the ED.

Check out my fanfiction!

I am pretty sure this adaptation may not feature all the consoles...

Though I want to see Genesis in it cause of her cowgirl appearance. XD

Updated the trope page with a poster. One with the title in English.

Finally watched the 7th episode. Nice Sonic-based episode.

Heh. Center-sensei was almost outed.

Watched 8th episode. Looks like they referenced the other consoles and a certain damsel in distress from Dynamite Deka.

Saw the Sonic one. Have to question the use of Sonic R music.

I know the chances of it happening are all but impossible with all the licensing, but a dub would be awesome. Mainly because something like this sounds so stupid and gimmicky it's kind of cool, and I can't read subtitles.

Agreed,...this is turning out great, but why Maser System isn't a big character is beyond me.

[up]

pretty much only South America and Europe cared about Master System, and it was because of those markets that it still got games made for it even long after the Genesis was released.

The anime even lampshades Master System's popularity in those regions.

Poor Alex Kid, his fame all but died with his console. Granted his games were dubious in quality, though the first and the Shinobi crossover were pretty great. That and the overworld music is pretty memorable by those that played the game.

[up][up][up][up]If Saturn gets a less whinier voice, LET IT BE SO!

So what Genesis/Mega Drive was an absolute failure in Japan too, and Saturn failed everywhere but Japan.

Dreamcast is the lone non-failure by that logic.

That or Mega Drive was included just to appease foreign Americans, because there's no reason to include it and not Master System except as mere nod.

Sega's foreign market was an undeniable crutch to it's popularity. It would be surprising if there weren't any shout outs to the countries that supported them far more than Japan did.

Wait, the Genesis failed in Japan?

Why did no one tell me about this series? It's right up my alley.

For those who have seen the anime, how is it so far?

I live in a constant state of fear and misery.

[up] Pretty darn hilarious actually. And this is from soemone who never owned a console and I'm sure doesn't get many of the references. It's also quite watchable with the short format.

Afraid so. It sold decently behind the Famicom and the PC Engine despite Sega Japan's attempts to go all out and heavily promote its use.

It wasn't unpopular, but with how successful the PC Engine and SNES were with their rpgs and Sonic's nigh-cult fandom status, it just couldn't take off like it did in the States.

Season 2, maybe? I want to see Genni more.
