Mmhmm. There's quite a few lesser known actors here. The fact that they have Pantie as Akira is perfect.

I don't recognize the three main girls, but they've all done good work so far.

Just finished the first season. Damn, at cliffhanger...

It was really good, I hope Spread will follow up on what it promised.

I think Ulith and Akira are tied for awesome antagonists, I can't really pick.

Also if I was told there would be dubstep in a card game between two girls, I'd have laughed it off, but in context it still manages to be awesome.

A movie for Wixoss has been announced. And i'm calling it right here and now Ruuko becomes the devil in order to be with Tama.

Just picked this up. About four episodes in. I liked the contrast between Ruko and the glasses girl's friendly match vs the verbal slugfest between Yuzuki and Akira.

Was Yuzuki screaming "YOU SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH!" at Akira for trashing her about her brother complex in the original, or is that the dub having some fun? Because I gotta say, that a perfectly delivered line.

I haven't watched the sub, but the crude delivery with Akira in the dub is perfect.

Now that the dub of Spread is coming out at last, I was going to bump the thread myself.

They made a dub for Wixoss? This I gotta see.

Just finished the first season.

That dub was indeed pretty great. The only problem I've got with watching it dubbed is now I have to wait another ten days before starting season 2 (dub release is on 6/28)...

Tell me about it. It's even worse with the 7 month wait between this and Spread, especially if watching subs just isn't an option.

Aaaand I've finished the second season.

Going to try my best to avoid spoilers, but, uh...there wasn't really much left for them to do with a third season. Is this new anime a new canon/alternate universe?

Judging by the title alone, it might be a prequel. More lore on the game itself is always good, if that's the case.

Finished season 2 too! That was a blast.

Highly recommend the dub, they sure put a lot of emotion into it, especially the VA's for Ruko, Mayu, and Akira.

Speaking of Akira, she has to be one of my favorite villains now. She takes shallowness to a whole other level that I never thought could be that entertaining to watch. Something I thought was odd though was that her second LRIG seemed awfully unconcerned about all the stuff going on around her. She has to have noticed that something was really wrong with how the Selectors were acting even by the game's twisted standards, but she was all "whatevs!"

What ended up happening with Yuzuki and Kazuki?

Akira's so unlikable she transcends the stereotype to loop back around to being entertaining through sheer force of will. She's like Audrey in that regard.

That's a good way to put it. [lol]

All in all, I think Iona/Kuro/Yuki was my favorite character. Her growth as a character was the most interesting to watch.

Selector Destructed Wixoss

With Lostorage coming out soon, it's convenient that this came out just now. It's a recap movie of the first two seasons, but it's not a replacement. Rather, it's meant to be seen after watching the show, but with a few extra scenes to give more context and meaning to certain characters. I never understood exactly what Ruko's mother's issue with Ruko was, nor did I get what was up with Mayu. This did nothing to alleviate that. But there were some interesting bits. The origin of Tama's name was cute, and the new Mayu scenes provided a bit more insight into who she is. There was also confirmation that Tama did become real and meet Ruko I think? And she probably fused with Yuki? I still don't quite get that.

But the real star here is Rumi/Ulith, the only true villainous character of the show with no redeeming qualities. She gets the bulk of the extra scenes and monologues, and it makes her out to be an amazing sadist. As a kid she plucked the wings off butterflies, ran into the middle of traffic just to freak out her friend/sister(?) Sachi, and later felt glad to be gone from that person who was nice to her. When she tries running into traffic in Iona's body she's stopped, and she acts nuts towards the person who stopped her. She's happy to see Sachi in a coma and verbally abuses a nice old lady. Rumi manages to be the best sort of absolute evil, the one you want to watch more and more of just to see how much they can break others. She was always cool, but she became simply fascinating here. And then she got a happy ending? Sort of? She's trapped in a void eternally with Sachi and has finally accepted Sachi's kindness, content to spend eternity with her. On one hand Rumi doesn't really deserve a happy ending, but on the other it's appropriate to see her break so much that she finally opens up to someone.

If you liked Wixoss and have a vague memory of it, Destructed is highly recommended. New scenes are sprinkled well across the entire movie, and the whole thing is fast paced enough that it's enjoyable seeing the highlights once more. Never thought a recap movie could be good, but this reminded my why I enjoyed Wixoss and got me pumped up for Lostorage.

Lostorage Incited Wixoss 1

Alright, this seems to be an alternate universe from Selector. Which makes sense since the system was destroyed in Selector. The first major difference is that guys can be Selectors too, though the LRIGs are still all girls (it is kind of in the name). The next difference is that once they're chosen, they're forced to partake in battles. No running away, or you'll lose your memories. Seems crueler than the last system on the surface, and we're only on the first episode. Their coins keep track of their wins and losses, and they can apparently bet on them for some sort of power, like forcing your opponent to tell the truth. Suzuko seems like a meh protagonist so far, at least compared to Selector's Ruuko who was implied to have issues and really enjoyed battling. Chinatsu seems cool though. The LRIGs are composed of memories, which has some implications for jerk guy with the shy and nice LRIG. Not sold that this will be as good as Selector yet, but it's worth giving a shot.

Oh, and despite probably taking place in a different universe, Piruluk appears in the opening. Very curious.

So this is clearly a sequel to selector, with the battleground being literally built on top of the old one and Kiyoi being in the OP. Poor girl

Boys can select now, which I guess makes sense

The system this time isn't as sadistic (you can win!), but you can't walk away in this version and only have an 20% chance of winning. And LRIGs aren't really characters now. Hope there's some twists yet to be revealed because this really isn't that interesting

The production is clearly the result of less talented people emulating selector, though not actually bad

Episode 1 definitely caught my interest with the rule changes from the previous two season. It seems like the card battles will be a bit more of the focus of this season but I hope they still have some good character interactions as well.

Episode 2. Huh, Kiyoi already appeared. But we didn't see Piruluk. Impossible to determine what she knows or if she's the same character. Meanwhile Chinatsu has a hard life. Not the most stable of people. Much more in line with the crazy people of Selector. Seems like Suzu and Chinatsu are going to be enemies more than allies.

Good old WcDonald's

Huh, wasn't expecting Kiyoi to show up so early. Or be willing to have anything to do with Wixoss anymore. Show's playing coy about her LRIG, which means it's probably Piruluk (something based on a Peeping Analyze character would make more sense, but I doubt they'd expect familiarity with it)

Not sure about Hanna. She's quirky enough to feel out-of-place, but not enough to be entertaining

Fucking with your own head is interesting but kind of weak as a reward

Way too many characters are relaxed about the whole selector thing. It made sense in the original series, but not here

selector was a bleak series about crazy people doing terrible things to each other. This series is more downbeat than bleak, and the characters are mostly fairly normal. ...I really think I prefer selector's approach (planning to follow, though)

Kiyoi met up with Akira, and it would be odd that she got sucked up into another crisis so soon after the last one, so I'm skeptical that it's the same person rather than just using the same character design. Well there's a lot we don't know, so it could go either way.

They didn't show Chinatsu's special power, but it's probably entertaining if Berserk does the obvious.
