Poor Image: Death By Irony

Hm… better, but it seems to be getting rather tall. Try making it 2x2. That way, it will be more compact, and you can fit 4 panels.

Interesting concept, but would "being killed by own attack" fall under Hoist by His Own Petard?

Not really seeing the irony there.

This crowner's dead in the water; I've put the pic on Death by Ambulance for now since it's a perfect fit there.

Besides the Obvious Artifacting... its got a lot of artifacting for my taste.

I have really nice, crisp images that will render well, but it takes me longer to make those work in Gimp than the quick-and-dirty Powerpoint drag and crop method I just used. By experience, I've learned IP is so darn fickle there's really no point putting a lot of work up front when there's a very likely chance most people will just be "meh", or "doesnt illustrate" no matter how gorgeous you make it look.*

* And before anyone gets upset, I'm referring to image quality, not content or concept.

Don't really like the Portal one. Much less ironic than a rather simple (if creative) example of Hoist by His Own Petard. And the action is in the hands of the one with the portal gun, rather than with the turret, which I think misplaces the focus.

The following is from Game Of Thrones. This would need a caption, but it is ironic in the context of the show. For those unfamiliar, the guy getting doused in gold demanded to be given a golden crown. He got his wish. Maybe something like "Never wish for a crown of gold from a very literal minded barbarian."

Sweet scene, bad image.

. It's too reliant on the caption, I wouldn't have had any idea of what was going on in that scene if you hadn't explained it.

So... if I were to add word balloons with the dialog in the previous scene? No. I don't think anyone would go for that, would they? Never mind. I think I'm officially out of ideas.

I am actually willing to plain old draw something from a suggestion so long as everyone agreed the scenario was unambiguously an ironic death. Granted, I'd be using pre made art or images, but I'm putting the offer out there.

2 problems with the Portal image:

1. It's more Hoist by His Own Petard than Death by Irony

2. It's really easy to see the "lasers" as being motion lines, which makes it almost impossible to tell what's going on. If I hadn't been reading this thread, I wouldn't have gotten "the turret is shooting itself" out of that image.
