Journey Through the Multiverse: Roleplay Thread

Just as Sijo was trying to do his part against the worm, an (spectacular) volley of attacks hit it. The thing seemed to die, splashing acid everywhere, including on him.

-SSIZZZSSS-

-"Oh, not again!!" he complained.

Except this time, there was no pain. Just smoke, and an odd, tingling sensation.

"Huh?" he gasped. He checked his left shoulder, where some of the acid had landed. It didn't look that different from before- it was still made of a white, grainy substance.

Except now it was shinier.

He touched it with his right hand, and a crystalline dust came off of it.

"...Salt?" he suddenly realized. "The acid turned me into- salt? Wait- of course! Acids and bases cancel each other, turning into salts! Its basic chemistry!! So THAT is why my power turned me into Mr. Cocaine!!" For the first time, he was actually impressed by his new power. The worst the worm could do was turn him into yet another kind of dust. Hah!

He was so caught up with his self-contemplation, he missed most of the worm's resurrection. When two erupted out of the ground, he said "Oh, no, not ANOTHER one!" Then he realized both were smaller than before. "...Did this thing just- regenerate into two??" He then cursed (in Spanish.) How where they going to kill it then??

He noticed someone's shield landed near him. It still had some acid eating it, so he at least wiped it clean with his left hand, neutralizing the corrosive substance. Hopefully the owner would still find and use it.

Then he heard someone else yelling in frustration about needing a plan. Wasn't there a guy hurling ice earlier? That gave him an idea!

"Hey! Try freezing it *whole*!" he shouted at the kid. "They are smaller now, maybe you can fully cover them in ice!"

Nicholas dodged out of the way of the oncoming acid. He sprouted Dragon's Wings and flew to August as he told him the plan.

"Alright. I'll see if I can do that. Need a lift or do you have someone else working tha- Huh? Oh cool!" Nicholas talked to August before being distracted at the marvel of Tony Stark being the Iron Man AI.

Then the worm split into two.

"Well shit." Nicholas said. "Should we rethink the plan or go with it anyways?" Nicholas asked August.

The hawk that was Sanne groaned internally and began flying to regroup with Nicholas, August and whoever else was trying to get organized. There she dispelled the lance in her talons and turned into a little dove, in the same glowing a shimmering transformation, then setting herself on Nicholas' shoulder "so, what's the plan?" she asked

"Oh man. That is bad." Kaito said when he saw the worm dividing itself in two. "Okay, the plan! No more standing around! Our friend here-" He pointed with his thumb at August. "— told us that the worm's weak point are its eyes and its tail. So here's what we're going to do. Squad one, that's me and him, we're gonna go over to the first worm's tail, cut that off and blast the wound it creates. Squad two, that's you two-" He pointed at Nicholas and Seanne. "— are gonna do that for the new worm. Good?"

He got on one knee, pointing at his back so August could hop on it. Once he did that, he would nod to the others, before holding onto August's legs and flying off towards the worm. At first, it seemed like Kaito would spiral into the ground, but he eventually got the hang of it, flying steadily towards the first worm's tail. "You cut that thing with all you got!" Kaito yelled at August as loud as he could.

Travis wish he could be like the others, seemingly so willing to throw themselves into the face of a giant, pissed-off sandworm without thought or fear. Unfortunately for him, he was quite the opposite, being near soiling himself at the sight of the worm rapidly approaching him. Thinking as fast as he could, he dug his hands into the sand a hurled up some handfuls of it, freezing them in midair as a sort of shield to stop the acid, then took off running in the other direction.

Also unfortunately was the fact that he kept on tripping and stumbling across the dunes, his boots not being the best to traverse a desert with.

"Wait, what are you gonna do??" Sijo yelled at the others. "Don't you see you'll just split it further??" They would need to cut it dozens of times before they shrunk it down to a tiny size- and then they would have hundreds of alien worms to deal with, wich probably wasn't going to be good for the environment, either.

He tried to get them to stop, but doubted they would listen, they were too caught in the moment. he decided to go ahead with his own plan of freezing the thing solid.

except the guy with the ice powers seemed to be running away.

"Hey! Come back here! We need you!! Don't worry, I'll shield you from the acid!"

That last time Travis stumbled, a hand reached out behind him and steadied him.

"I don't need to teach you how to walk do I?" said a voice behind him. It was Roy who had finally jumped off the ship. It seemed as if he had summoned up enough courage to actually get into the fight. His face was still a study of emotions; the battle inside raged as fiercely as the one in the waking world.

But he was here now on the battlefield. There was only one thing he needed to do.

With a graceful sweep of his hand, he drew from a sheath that hung by his side a beautiful pale blade.

The blade sang as he twirled it to the best of his ability, catching the light of the noon day sun; faint outlines of flowers and vines lighting up along its side. A smile graced the edges of Roy's face and he opened his mouth to shout a single word loud and clear.

Senbon Zakura!

At that moment the sword shattered.

Then the shattered pieces gathered up together and flew straight for the worm like a swarm of angry bees. The swarm ascended to swirl above the first worm's head, the sun glinted off the individual pieces so that they glowed red like the petals of some exotic flower.

Then they descended with fury upon the worm's head, cutting at the eyes like so many buzz saws. The acid hurt them not for they were not made of any normal metal. Roy had finally discovered the power of his shard.

Sanne looked down at Sijo, and then to Nicholas "The guy made out of chalk isn't exactly wrong... We just have to be fast enough so we avoid a hydra scenario"

Hydra?

I'll tell you sometime, think you'll like the story she thought as she flew off his shoulder and turned into a regular sized Sanne with shades and a pair of wings. She withdrew her weapon from her forehead. "Ready to go then?" with the lance still in its wand form.

As the fighting went on, Naoki was still inside of the ship, hiding in a corner and shaking as if the temperature was at absolute zero. He seemed pretty close to going into fetal position as well.

"How... Shameful." said Gallantmon, who, despite being a voice currently, Naoki was certain that he was shaking his head in disapproval mentally.

"I wasn't expecting THIS to happen right away!" Naoki rebutted, even his thoughts being in total panic.

"I'm certain nobody did, yet they are out there fighting with powers they aren't even certain of how to properly use yet. You don't even have that issue as I can fight in your place."

Receiving a scolding from a Royal Knight was certainly something special. But even though he was, right in what he was saying...

"But you're still going to use my body! If you die-"

"I won't allow that to happen." announced Gallantmon, with conviction.

The conversation comes to a halt as Naoki starts solving this internal conflict of his. Even though, Gallantmon could hear all of his thoughts he had offered no input on it unless he was directly adressed, but it was unnerving that he had absolutely no privacity around him, as good-hearted as he knew the Royal Knight was, there were some thoughts that needed to be kept private. Neverthless, the lack of privacity he had wasn't the main problem at hand right now.

"I want to trust you on that, but I just... Just that little possibility that something could go wrong and I end dead without ecen realizing it... I can't. I'm sorry."

For anybody still in the ship, they could see that Naoki was deeply troubled, any heroic resolve he could've had seemingly died. He wasn't trembling anymore, but he still seemed very afraid and conflicted.

GENIE remained silent. "Great!... could you try that again in English?" He said, until the question about the archives came up. "Archives! Of course I have those! Everything from history to mathematics! The sum of the square roots of any two sides of an isosceles triangle is equal to the square root of the remaining side!... or was it a right triangle?"

The first worm's shrieks increased as he found out he could no longer see, forcing him to attempt a dive at a totally different direction. Meanwhile, the second worm was being attracted by the lasers being shot by Jamie, which meant someone else it could eat- although the lasers were making dents on the thing, they were much bigger than before. It was at this same point that the first worm had its entire body sliced and diced by Joe.

One could swear that the worm's shrieks could be heard all across the globe. Acidic blood started to pour out of holes in its entire body, the worm's movements becoming slower and more slurred. It even frowned, the poor thing, as it started hitting the ground, trying to dig its way in, although it still had a kick in it, demonstrated by how it tried to swat at Kaito. Of course, this didn't matter much, because its eyes were soon pecked out by a rain of metal. By this point, the worm's shrieks were pretty much pitiful. It was laying on the ground, the acidic blood coming out in slower spurts, shaking its tail in an attempt to protect it from anyone trying to kill him.

Good. Roland thought, acknowledging the AI's response with a light nod. He then asked, " Is there a specific location that I can find these archives or is it possible to access them from anywhere on the ship? If the former, where can I find them? If the latter (or a combination of both), how do I access them?" It was vital that he finds the archives as soon as possible.

"...we'll talk about upgrades later. Right now, full length mirror? Anywhere on the ship? Some chalk to? If we're going somewhere on this ship, I want to make sure my parents don't worry."
But seriously, point defense weapons would be awesome. He was gonna take this ship and turn it into a veritable god of war.

Of course, he lacked any engineering knowledge, knowledge of how the weaponry actually worked or any resources to construct these weapons. So probably that god of war thing wasn't going to happen.

Sijo overheard the sandworm's death cries and turned around to watch the spectacular display of violence. *Wow, these people are really getting used to their abilities* he concluded. He also noticed there was one worm still alive, though.

Deciding his idea of freezing the things was unnecessary, but that all that acid spewing around was still a bad thing, he began running back to the battle area hoping to act as a shield for anyone who needed one.

Andrew stayed on the ship, he was tempted to go out with everyone else giving their all but he kept on fighting but he kept on thinking he'd just become a problem. All he can do now is be a scaley by stander. Eventually the windows got covered by goo so he couldn't even watch what was happening outside.

It wouldn't feel so bad, if the guy with the scratched lenses managed to ask useful questions Andrew wish he thought himself. Then the guy mentioned contacting his parents...

"Yeah, I want to talk to my family too" said Andrew. Looking at his scaley body, he thought it might be a good idea not to talk to them with visuals, I mean seeing a dragon with his voice would freak them out. Although maybe it would be for the better, it could answer more questions.

Oh why should he care about those details, contacting them was the important thing.

Joe leapt back to where he was, admiring his handiwork. He demorphed to his Gokai form.

"My blade made short work of that worm. Too bad all that transforming has left me a little drained."

Holy fuck.

"That...Was fucking terrifying." I said as I looked upon the dying worm. "Er, I know it tried to kill us and all, but, since I am kinda sure the thing is a dumb animal, how about we leave it alone? I think we put sufficient fear of humans into it, and unless it has more magic bullshit powers, it shouldn't be a threat to the ship."

"Leave it alone?" the Living Chalk-Man known as Sijo said in disbelief. "The ship might be safe, but I don't think it would be good to allow that thing to roam the American deserts unchecked. Ever seen the Tremors movies?"

"Okay, change of plans!" Kaito announced as he stopped midway through his trip towards the first worm, reaching to hold onto August's legs as he started hovering in mid-air. "Time for a little detour!" When he saw the damage done to the first worm, he spun around and started flying towards the second worm. "You slash that thing, and you slash it now!"

".....Dude, those movies were unrealistic as hell. Do you realize how easy we beat that thing? And with its size, it should have a somewhat complex brain, meaning it should be able to learn, meaning we just showed it why humans are fucking TERRIFYING!"

"UNREALISTIC!? We've been given powers by aliens and you think the Tremors movies are unrealistic??" Sijo scoffed. "Besides, you'll excuse me if I don't bet Earth's safety on a guess about some alien worm's intelligence!" Then, he turned around to cheer the others: "Get it before it gets away!!"

As Kaito flew towards it, Zed extended his hands towards the second worm and redirected his cloud of darkness, now blinding the second worm.

"Less arguing, more aggression!"

Jasmine stood in the control room, glaring at G.E.N.I.E. with her arms folded.

Silence.

"...Enlighten me. What crazy pacifier superpower have I been stuck with? Super-drowning? Super-anti-socialness? Super-lethargy? Because I already have those, so I'm not exactly inclined to swap."

Silence.

"If you think I'm going out there, you're even more oblivious than I thought."

No, she wasn't talking to the others. They were fine with the situation and the loud shiny annoying head. That made them morons. Beside, she didn't want to give the wrong impression - namely, that she was someone who actually held conversations. Precedents were dangerous and best left alone.

"Cutting is definitely something I can do."

As Kaito flew August toward the worm at high speed, August moved the smaller sword into a position almost as if he meant to draw it from a sheathe despite no such sheathe existing. Then, despite being upside down as they approached the worm, he slashed the blade forward and into worm flesh, cutting deep across the worm in a near-invisibly fast blur of steel. His initial strike was so fast in fact that it seemed to create a vacuum of air in the wake of the slash that blew the acidic blood away from August and Kaito as air rushed in to fill it, with the added bonus of tearing along the path of the cut a second time so that the worm was cut even wider and deeper. The pop of a sonic boom in miniature and a roar of gale force winds accompanied the strike as August 'unsheathed' the sword in a slash that broke the sound barrier.

"Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu: Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki"

Even as August named the move out loud, he felt a horrible pain in his arm as the strain from the technique ripped through him. Wincing, he looked up at Kaito "You think I'm gonna need to do that a few more times? Because I'd rather not."

Okay, looked like she had the worm's attention at least. Now she just had to figure out what to do with it. Out of the corner of her eye, Jamie noticed that the others didn't waste any time in taking down the first worm. Awesome, now they'll probably descend on this one too. She could already see one guy carrying another towards the worm. If she wanted to contribute, now would be the time. She would just have to figure out how. As she watched the worm closing in on her, Jamie's grip on the cylinder she found tightened. This apparently hit a button or something, as there was a short burst of noise from it and a beam of pink energy came out. This beam stopped a couple of feet from the device and stayed in place, sort of shaped like a sword.

Jamie was understandably a little surprised by this. If she wasn't staring down a worm monster, she might have commented on how cool it was. Right now though, she was trying to think of how to use it. She noticed the two guys closing in on the worm's side with one of them starting to slash it. She took this chance to use her thrusters to dash to the other side of the worm and jump forward. With her thrusters flaring, Jamie jumped along the other side of the worm and stabbed her beam saber into its side. She dragged it along the length of the beast, making sure to stay ahead of the blood that would likely come out, hoping being cut from both sides would do the trick.

"Not after this, you won't." Kaito said, suddenly dropping August as two missiles popped out of his shoulder, aiming them at the worm's open wounds. "Uh, I need something cool to say... what abo—"

"What about you just dropped some guy and he's going to hit the ground in less than thirty seconds?!" STARK yelled at him, sighing and taking control of the suit's missiles. "Eat lead." The two misiles flew out towards the worm's open wounds, aiming to blow him up with extreme prejudice.

Kaito flew down, grabbing August in a bridal carry position, without putting much harm on his body. "My bad!" He yelled, flying away from the worm right before the missiles hit. "Kinda lost focus there for a minute. You... okay? Please say yes, please say yes. "
