Who's a cute wittle alien race? You are, you are...!
If the movie is as creative as this, I'll definitely give it a shot. When's it coming out again? Later this year?
Looking for some stories?November 26th of this year.
Also, I appreciate the positive response. The website I got the trailer/short from had a comment (the only comment) that said it was "badly designed" and overall, didn't like it.
But I liked it, it had some nice gags, such as:
-> Captain: What a terrible planet! Whose idea was that planet? -> Boov: Yours, sir.
-> (in a lava planet) Captain: And this is winter.
And the part with the pitch black planet and the The planet that had a mouth and teeth.
Also:
-> Captain: No carnivorous unicorns, remember those?

Sigh....I just want Dream Works to make a good movie, for once. Dammit, you guys made Kung Fu Panda and How To Train Your Dragon ! Why do you insist on creating these pandering films to only a 10 years or younger demographic?
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.I kind of liked Happy Smekday! better. Also, the leader is just taking all the jokes from King Julien!
Of note, this isn't an original story. It's adapted from a satirical children's book called The True Meaning of Smekday. So a lot of the short's humor and the somewhat bland Cute Alien designs may have been taken from the book.

Well, they made rise of the guardians...too bad that it didn't meet their expectations.
WTF was wrong with Rise Of The Guardians? Or Monsters Vs Aliens, for that matter? Or Mega Mind....

You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction. There's nothing wrong with them, but they weren't as financially successful as the company had hoped they'd be.
Looking for some stories?#5: Seriously, does no one know what a Trivia tab is anymore?
I'm wondering how much of the story they'll change. They'll almost certainly cut the epilogue.
Looking for some stories?......... why do I get the feeling the book is considerably less family-friendly...
In fact, Martin's character is in the book for all of five pages, and never even interacts with our protagonists, so I dunno why the hell they gave the part to a big celebrity. (Oh, wait, yes I do.)

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Oh, calm down. We've seen nothing of the film itself so far.
Looking for some stories?True. But at the same time I feel like we haven't seen Dreamwork attempt anything on the level of Smekday where social critique is concerned. That, plus their financial situation and Hollywood's tendency to skew away from any attempt to deal with racism that actually incites the system rather than a few individuals, doesn't really inspire a lot of hope.
Plus, we do have the finalized designs of the Boov. I feel like that's something to go on.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. My reaction to seeing the Boov designs for the first time = "HOW TOYETIC CAN YA GET!?"
Yeah...
The Boov get the brunt of it, but Gratuity...well...
Everything's getting cutified.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.-First time seeing the human kid- AAUGH GOD THEY SHOULD JUST MAKE HER RIHANNA PLAYING HERSELF! GOODNESS!
kyun, why do you shout nearly all the time? Just wondering.
Looking for some stories?Yeesh, so much negativity. :/
Kinda justifiable, unfortunately.
Too many things are being changed that could actually make this movie stay true to its source material - aka GOOD ones. All to talk down to kids like they're stupid, which is beyond insulting in my book.
Dammit, Dreamworks. You're in some trouble now. Not from me, though - I'll just be ignoring this one and watching internet critics savage this one.
Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.......... byyyyyyyyy GOD does that look bland!
Trailer has come out.

This trailer makes the film look a little bit better that the teaser did, but... still not very good. I particularly don't care for the designs for the aliens. Those are the blandest looking aliens ever! Strange, since the design for the human girl looks fine.
Also, what is up with the title? "Home"? That's it? Why do all animated film titles these days have to be so nondescriptive and meaningless? Are the studios really so afraid that a title that has any meaning whatsoever will scare away a demographic, that they'd rather have titles that appeals to no one?
If you don't like this, then you won't like all the sequels coming out after this, either... A 2nd Pussin Boots, A 2nd The Croods film, and a 4th... 4TH Madagascar film.
Dreamworks is going to get their asses whooped over the next couple of years with such bad decisions. End of discussion.
Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.Are they, though? Mediocre animated films have an annoying tendency to make money in spite of their quality.
So apparently this is our first look at Dream Works Animation's next movie, Home:
While I do agree that the leader is rather a jerk (and barely sounds like Steve Martin), I enjoyed the short/teaser.
Sound off here.
