I can only do one at a time.
I like to keep my audience riveted. So far this month, I've posted updates to three stories and written a one-shot. I have five other active stories that are updated infrequently, as my muse takes me.
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - SilaswI don't think I'd be able to actively write more than one at a time, but I might try and do some work on another (outlining stuff and research) while putting up something else.
One Strip! One Strip! Now that i've found this thread, i have to say, i think i'm feeling the pressure of having too many writing projects.
At the moment, i have 12 WI Ps:
2 are rewrites of "books" that i wrote while in Middle School
3 are new "books" with new stories that i'm writing right now
7 are fan fiction stories that i'm writing (two were just brief impulses)
And to top it all off, i have three story ideas that i haven't actually written down and at least four thoughts for tv shows.
Now, I want to finish these ideas and projects and not leave any of them incomplete, but for some reason i just can't get a lot of work done, not even now when i have plenty of free time. In fact, at the moment, i just can't write as much as i'd like
I'm trying to push myself to write more than one at a time. Up to five will probably be my limit.

Note to self: Pick less edgy username next time.I saw an interview with Jim Butcher the other day where he says that even if he lives to 130 he won't have time to write all of the story ideas he has now, let alone including the ones he'll have in the intervening time.
And he said that in 2008 I think it was.
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - SilaswI used to have a whole bunch of stories going back in high school, but I never finished any of them as a result. So right now, I'm trying to just focus on one.
I could probably do two if I wanted to, but I doubt I could keep up with more than that.
At one point I was doing 4, but I wasn't getting very far fast enough, only getting 250 words for each every day. I'd say I can manage 2 at a time. I'm only doing one right now, but that has to do with other works not being planed far enough.
Just thought I'd get some opinions on this: how many stories do you find you're able to work on at the same time? I mean actually writing them, by the way, not simply having their concept in the back of your head. Are you able to put work into several writing projects at once, or do you find you need to focus on single projects?
Personally, due to my ADD, I find that, usually, I need to focus on a single writing project if I'm going to get anything substantial done. Sometimes, though, I might grow bored or uninspired about a particular story after working on it for long enough, and then I'll shift to another for a month or two; but generally, I find I can't simply shift between totally different projects in a short space of time - it's too distracting. You?
