From the front, the Earth Engine (the main robot) looks really cool.

Also, I suspect that the dark skinned girl might be a Rei Ayanami Expy.

Looks pretty awesome. I was going to say how surprised I was at how realistic they were taking a science fiction film, as well as how fantastic the spaceships looked.....until the Giant Robot showed up and punched the screen.

Still, as KLK wraps up, might have to check this out. When does it premier?

Somewhere in April of this year.

Couldn't get much of a read on it from that(not being able to understand it didn't help. ), but hey.

We're going to make jokes about racially balanced casts until this comes out arn't we? You know you were thinking it.

The written summary makes it sound like BONES is drawing a lot of their inspiration from Eureka Seven.

This announcement reminded me that i needed to watch Eureka 7 AO

For those that don't know, this is being done by the same team that made Star Driver and the Ouran Highschool Host Club anime. So, it's once again directed by Takuya Igarashi and written by Yōji Enokido.

Though I do also believe it was stated that Captain Earth is going to be a more traditional mecha anime compared to Star Driver. As in, less or none at all of the more slice of life sections.

I'll check it out when it airs. But the robots were the worst part of Star Driver, so I don't have terribly high expectations

Well, like I said, the robot in this anime is looking epic. Man, I hope they release a Robot Damashii figure of this guy soon.

I wish I could post a picture that showed more of the robot (Earth Engine is its name I think), but the ones that do show more of EE also show the main protagonists, so this is the best I could find.

So, anyone want to take guesses on who'll license the English dub rights? (I'm thinking Funimation or Viz Media, Aniplex makes their releases so damn pricey and Sentai Filmworks...I think might F up the dub IMO.)

Also, is it me, or does EE look like he wearing a captain's hat?

Heh, it looks nice. Never saw Star Driver or the Ouran anime^note Read the manga, though.

Here's what else the writer has done.

He's done a bunch of big stuff, most notably Revolutionary Girl Utena.

"By your powers combined, I am Captain Earth!"

Hey, what legs do you think Earth Engine has? It kinda looks like he's got some Jehuty legs going on (no visible feet, uses rocket boosters or some other form of propulsion to move around ^note  if they did a toy, they'd have to give it heel spurs .)

That combining sequence was FINAL FUUUUUUUUUUUSION as fuck!

You gotta love Bones. What ever they do, there's always some redeeming quality, some spark that makes you feel like it works. Even the worse series in their lineup are worth it. This smells like it belongs to that group, but I'm still excited to see the next episode.

Star Driver had a bit of a confusing first episode too, but later episodes cleared up what was going on.

Though then the crazy Enokido symbolism came in...
