Good Modern Buddy-Cop Films

I know I made a similar thread, but I wanted to narrow it down a bit.

From what all I've been seeing, it appears that the buddy-cop genre has sort of died down since its glory days in the 80s. I don't know if it is due to it becoming too predictable or something, but it is just something I noticed.

So what I want to know is what good buddy-cop films can you think of that have been made during the past 10 years or so. Also, do explain why you think they are good.

I'll start it with the theme to what I think is one of the best:

Really, I consider 21 Jump Street (from the guys behind The Lego Movie no less) to be one of the smarter ones, considering how many lampshades and twists it pulls on the genre.

Hot Fuzz

Best police cop movie ever made I swear by it.

Oh really when?

Yep. Hot Fuzz. Much better than any other recent films in the genre, and our trope pages explain exactly why.

I like Hot Fuzz as well.

But you can't forget the classics either. Lethal Weapon series is a favourite. Rush Hour and Rush Hour 2 as well were fairly enjoyable.

Yeah, the first two Lethal Weapons were good. The third one was bearable, but the last one managed to end up being crap. Jet Li's character should have been allowed to kill Riggs, who only survived due to Plot Armor and a Magical AK-47.

1. What do you mean by modern?

2. Why does it have to be about cops? There are buddy films not about cops which have no real differences from the ones about cops.

Tam: Yeah I agree with you there. It was tired in the 3rd one and the fourth was pretty meh.

Because they want to talk about Buddy Cop films is why.

[up][up][up] It wasn't magical.. The AK-47 always fires. ALWAYS. If you were in the vacuum of space, it would blow your fucking face off. IT ALWAYS WINS.

[up][up][up] By modern, I mean released in the past ten years or so.

And yes, Hot Fuzz is an amazing film. Only 21 Jump Street has managed to rival it in terms of buddy-cop films as far as I'm concerned.

So if you guys had to compare between 21 Jump Street and Hot Fuzz, which one do you prefer and why?

I haven't seen 21 Jump Street yet, so I really can't answer that one.

I guess Rush Hour doesn't count since that's 15 years old.

I'd say it would, since it's out of the "glory days" mentioned in the OP. I don't know whether Rush Hour would count as genre parody, though.

Personally I say Hot Fuzz

But admittedly I'm a big sucker for anything involving Simon Pegg and Nick Frost so eh.
