[up]Exactly! There's a deranged woman out there with weather powers! And nobody seems to know or care!

Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?

I hate it less than Season 3/4, it has better characters than Season 2, so that automatically makes it the second best season in Heroes.

Granted, this means very, very little with regards to the quality of Reborn.

One thing I like is the fast pace. The latter seasons of Heroes really tried to drag their feet with a lot of these things, and while it's still doing the annoying "be insanely vague with incredibly simple and/or obvious twists to the point where it feels like the show asks more questions than it gives satisfying meaningful answers" thing that Lost already patented years ago, the characters actually act with some degree of sense.

I don't know, Spanish Batman left his lair thoroughly unguarded.

I'm not a fan of killing off the old characters like they've been doing, but on the same hand, this is a revival that's trying to move forward on its own. I think that's what contributing to the faster pace, they know those that care have the basic premise down and they're trying to pick up the speed they left off on. No need for long "coming of age superhero" arcs.

That said, I'm a fan of the new dynamics. A human who tries to take up the mantle of his superpowered family member. Two hunters who are after the metahumans for personal reasons, while one harbors a crucial secret. A father of a metahuman girl who sparked all of the metahuman paranoia, now on a search for the truth. A kid with a deadly power, and a parent that's fought to keep him safe.

Miko's the only one I don't really get, but I still need to watch the episode I missed.

Caught up with this. Not bad, despite the fact that I find Fantastic Racism plots trite at best. Cautiously optimistic.

I don't know, Spanish Batman left his lair thoroughly unguarded.

This one was especially bad because the obvious plot reason the lair was unguarded was so that his nephew could get in. Except his nephew can turn intangible. If there had been a reasonable lock on the door, there would be less complaints, but he still would have been able to get in.

I also think the priest should have been normal, not a super. Just to show that there are more good people willing to help supers despite being normal themselves.

Latest episode:

So Erica and Renautus have decided to use the power of captive Evos to shield a fraction of the Earth's population from the solar flare, and then rebuild with the enslaved Evos as their primary resource. Presumably the other "side" thinks they can hold off the solar flare altogether using the "destiny" people.

There is still the question of why they're hunting element girl, especially since she appears to have been holding back the flare. Did Erica decide that she doesn't want to avert the flare, and is all too happy to have the world "cleansed?" That might be interesting. Starts as standard "I Did What I Had to Do to save the species" and morphs into "most of the species doesn't deserve saving."

Still annoyed at the anti-EVO sentiment everywhere. I guess it makes sense with the Odessa thing, kinda like Muslims directly after 9-11, but I still find it annoying. Like when Tommy was getting registered. Even ignoring putting him under house arrest for no reason, the examiner was just unnecessarily rough to make sure we know the whole thing is evil.

Obviously, Erica forced Mohinder to take credit for the bombing when it was actually her who was behind it. Probably don't even need to tag that.

[up]Element Girl would be a huge help in restoring fertility to the planet's soil and such, and presumably during the flare itself would be part of the shield.

I'm really frustrated by this show. I liked it up to this point but the most recent episode does so many stupid things I'm reaching my breaking point.

Take a shot every time we get an unimportant shot of Luke angsting over his dead child.

Take a shot every time Tommy has a moment of generic cliche high school teenage angst. Actually extend that to any generic cliche high school moment we see period.

Take a shot every time Quentin makes a shitty comment, and take another every time a character shuts him up.

Take a shot every time a human is unnecessarily cruel to an Evo beyond the extent that an event like Odessa would have naturally caused.

Take a shot every fucking time a character vaguely hints at what the fuck is actually going on.

And, finally, take one last swig of the bottle every time we come within seconds of finding out the truth only to have some idiotic plot twist come out at the last second to ruin everything. (I swear to god if Quentin kills the clone only to have the clone disappear I'm straight up quitting the show).

Let me put it this way. Heroes Reborn takes up a 60 minute timeslot. Every episode takes up roughly 45 minutes, maybe a bit less. In the space of those 60 minutes (45 if you're watching it through more dubious means), we learned about as much information and had about as much character development (or even any interesting, worthwhile, actually entertaining scenes) as any given 15 minute timeslot of a cartoon like Steven Universe, a show that takes 11 minutes. That means that we just spent our time watching a good 45-34 minutes of filler in between actually watching what we came here to watch.

I agree on most of your post, including this part (the only reason Noah didn't find out what happened to him was because he interrupted Erica when she was telling him to demand she tell him), but I disagree on the clone. He's clearly completely unconcerned with being captured. He might kill himself, he might trick one of them into killing him, but they're not going to get many answers out of him. Maybe a word or two he shouldn't say, but that's it.

This one was actually bad enough that Emily tries to point out that being adopted isn't really a big deal. Sure, his mom should have told him, but it doesn't really matter in the long run.

[up]Personally, I thought HRG should've just shot her. I mean, he has the villain behind everything right there. Just shoot her and her corporation crumbles.

[up] Probably wouldn't have done much. Remember, it's a global corporation. They'd probably just put someone else at the top of the food chain to manage things, as there's already a solid foundation in place for.... whatever the company's doing.

I suspect the only thing it would change (killing Erica) at this late date is that she probably hasn't told most of her colleagues that there is a viable alternative plan that saves everyone.

All caught up with this revival now. I'll just give my thoughts on the new characters for now.

Tommy is an unfortunate case of the writers never learning that teen drama for teen dramas sake is boring. He has a right to his angst, but it's really unengaging compared to everything else going on. If he wasn't played by Robbi Kay I doubt I'd care this much about his storyline.

Caspar makes me smile everytime he's on screen. I don't quite know what his agenda is yet, but seeing him in action hasn't gotten old and I doubt it will if The Haitian proved anything. Indeed he makes a good replacement for Renee.

Miko's powers are probably the most out there in the series at this point, which is saying something. I got Hiro and Ando vibes from her and Ren pretty quick and their interactions are just a funny. I wish they were more involved in the plot then they are right now but it's only been 5 episodes so I can wait.

Carlos is very interesting to me because he's basically Spanish Iron Man and a Legacy Character for his dead Evo brother, 2 things Heroes never had up to this point. There's a real struggle for him to live up to Oscar and his heroics after avenging his death. Guy needs to hide his Batcave better though.

Luke and Joanne the Evo assassins make good antagonists. They both lost their child to the Odessa attacks, which game them their Fantastic Racism. Luke's development away from that went he learns of his powers is pretty fun to watch. Joanne seems to be a lost cause at the moment though because she's more blood-thirsty than he was. Since they parted ways for now I wonder how they'll fit into the plot at this point.

Malina is our Luke Skywalker basically, and has the most to do with the plot on the new good guys side for now. She's not just Storm, she can grow plants, giving her Combo Platter Powers. All of her scenes so far have been plot-relevant which is nice.

Erica seems to be a Well-Intentioned Extremist Big Bad, but I don't expect that to hold up as time goes on.

M. F. Harris is the coolest Dragon Heroes ever had, that's all.
