Jesse L. Martin will be playing Detective West, Iris' dad. Rick Cosnett is playing "Eddie Thawne", which should sound familiar to Flash fans.
The Flasher shall give the current Thawne rug burn or something, leading to a revenge spree by a great great grandson.
And Flash by Lenny Kravitz will be the theme song.

"Show us the Galaxy Warp."We know from Arrow that Barry's mother was killed under suspicious circumstances and all the signs point to a certain archnemesis being behind it.
Also it appears Vibe will be a supporting character but just as Cisco Ramon for the time being and Detective West will be a surrogate father figure for Barry with Iris as a kind of surrogate sister.
Didn't an article say that Iris would be Barry's foster sister he has a crush on?
I wonder if Thrawne will start out friendly and slowly go/show his evil, or if he'll be a Jerkass who just goes straight up evil.
My AO3Given that there is time travel involved and what we already know probably a mix of both.
Maybe they'll do a composite of Thawne and Zolomon.
Hmm... but the byplay between Hunter and Eobard is pretty entertaining in its own right.
Ah, everything I hear about this show makes me anticipate it more and more!
My AO3I hope they keep the "the Rogues are all adversarial to Barry, but deeply respect him to the point of on rare occasions being outright Friendly Enemies" aspect of his villains, but with the overall disposition DC's been putting into these shows I kind of doubt it.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Yeah, it'd be nice if this show could be, like, a lighter counterpart to Arrow, but it probably won't happen. Not in the current atmosphere of superhero media.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.Arg, that is a really good point. But the fact they didn't grim-and-grittify Barry (beyond giving him the Flashpoint backstory for his parents) that much gives me hope for some not-as-angsty-and-dramatic stuff. I'll keep my blue ring and pray for a similar relationship to the Rogues.

My AO3We will know or when the Flash gets put on the CW schedule on May 15th.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureThey've already said that The Flash will be very different in tone to Arrow. He'll call himself The Flash right off the bat, he'll wear the bright red outfit and he'll be a lot lighter in tone by comparison since he's a pretty typical cape fanboy.
Having said that the Pilot scripts look like The Trickster is the first villain and he'll be a lot more violent compared to the comics (he appears to have killed a lot of people with Iris being visibly disturbed by the whole thing).
Hmm... I guess I'll just clutch my Blue Lantern ring
My AO3Ok, I can understand turning one of the villains a little more violent, but the Trickster? Come on!... it's the Trickster!
On another one, if it's a lighter tone, I'll be happy. And if this leads to more DC TV shows based on the heroes, I'll be even happier.
Is it possible we might be getting more spinoffs if Arrow gets a Season 3? (which I really hope will happen please CW gods please)
I'm still a little leery about introducing superpowers into what's been a "realistic" universe thus far. We'll see how that goes.
It's been working in Arrow with the Captain America serum getting thrown around.
"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des UrsinsI know, but characters like Captain America and Bane don't feel as... fantasy-like, y'know? I mean, their origins are based in science (science way beyond anything we have now, but science nonetheless), and they don't "ostentatiously" break any physical laws that we know of (see all those stories of adrenaline-based feats of strength).
The Flash's powers, OTOH, has raised a LOT of scientific questions from the get-go, and his origin has a lot of fantastic elements to it (especially the whole Speed Force and origin of Barry's lightning bolt), so its presence in this universe still feels intrusive.
Am I making sense?
You mean aside from the utterly ridiculous "frozen in Ice and still viable afterwards"? Because there's tons of issues with that ;)
"You can reply to this Message!"Eh, somewhat, but given that there used to be a popular Wonder Woman TV series, and not too long ago there was a popular Superman series which had all sorts of people with powers showing up, I'm not too worried about that aspect.
My AO3I know, but this is a different series from the others you mentioned. It seemed to be building itself as a more realistic Nolan-type universe, so it seems a little off-putting to have powers show up like that. It's the same/one reason why some people were/are so leery of having the Dark Knight trilogy be "canon" in a larger DC cinematic universe.
Anyone have any idea how fast this Flash will be ? If we're nudging light-speed like his comic counterpart, then I have no idea how it'll work believibly.
Again, they introduced a super soldier serum in Arrow, and that wasn't too jarring. It's much easier to blur the line between realism and fantastic than people think. It just needs to go step by step to build it up.
I bet he'll start at speed of sound levels with a bit of How Do I Shot Web?, then as the series goes on pushes his limits more and more.
My AO3I hope this series doesn't try to overdo it, budget-wise, and embarrass itself.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.Fine, then, another question: who should be cast as Iris's nephew Wally (because you know they're gonna go there eventually, if they have the time)?
This is the series that is spinning off from Arrow. Don't confuse it with the older show. Anyway, I can't wait for this to premiere.
This is a signature.
