Wow sounds pretty vicious. Does it look cool?

Also I just learned about the pig/mushroom easter egg in Tseldora. I don't see how anybody could figure that out by themselves.

Pig mushroom easter egg? Bwuh?

Also, sort of thinking of making a really weird character:

Dula Mytha's Blade, Moon Butterfly Set, Iron Flesh Pyromancy.

Toxic/Poison everything.

I'm either calling it Titanianote , Oberonnote , or simply The Mothnote .

[up]Wow, those are some serious acrobatics. Now I wished more weapons had special attacks for dual wielding.

Also, I made a slight discovery: holding a weapon with two hands doesn't count as "having double Strength" when it comes to requirements, but as "the Strength requirement is halved, but rounded down."

I stumbled upon this as with 12 Strength I was able to use Avelyn with no penalty. Avelyn requires 25 Strength to be properly used in one hand.

2x12=24 so that shouldn't work.

25/2=12.5 which rounds down to 12.

Just thought I'd share this. Might be handy for people trying to conserve their points as much as they can.

[up]Took me a while to find it on the googles, but.

TL;Didn't watch vid: If you take a Tseldora pig (aggro it and just let it follow you) to the mushrooms (they're truffles, apparently) in the building after the wood bridge over the spikes, it digs up a pickaxe for you.

They call it the Rumour Mill because every time one specific guy posts I definitely feel cards going from my library to my graveyard

[up][up] Could always settle for dual Old Whips. My Vanquisher Seal Aurous character got owned in the arena since there are people going half naked with nothing but moonlight butterfly robes and old whips grin.

I was also thinking dual Spotted Whips. Or even Notched Whips.

Though I wonder, how much does the game differenate toxic and poison?

They share a resistance, but do they have seperate build up bars?

What happens if I strike a poisoned person with a toxic weapon? Do they get immidietly toxicated?

I believe the buildups are different, just like the first game. Haven't really been poisoned enough time to know how it actually works here, though.

Btw, more image uploads on boss page.

Hmmm I've got a good feeling the Ivory King will revolve around Heide, maybe we'll finally find out the mystery behind it(haha solved mysteries in Souls lololol0. The Heide knights are known for their white armor which could mean that white was an important symbolic color for Heide(hence the Ivory). Just a thought.

It'd be a load of bull**** if the Shrine of Winter's structure wasn't the actual portal to the third DLC, at least!

I'm personally hoping for a kind of Beyond the Wall esc setting and creatures, given that the blurb for the DLC said it would be snow and cold based.

[up][up]Not really? That might be for the last "surprise" once all the crowns are gathered.

Though snow based and shrine of winter does make it seem like an easy fit...I still wouldn't count out the Heide thing though, in fact isn't the last Heide knight near the shrine of winter?

So apparently the DS 2 hate brigade is calling Alonne a lost sinner reskin.

Wut?

Sure, he has a similar backstep —> thrust move, but his moves are quite different, and he's probably the most aggressive boss in the series since Artorias.

Artorias wasn't as aggressive as Manus. Manus is easily the most aggressive boss and Artorias wasn't that much worse than Alonne.

Man the E-hate for DS 2 is straight up ridiculous, some Neogaffers especially act like it's the biggest sin against gaming since Sonic 06(hell even the subtitle of their DS 1 topic is DEFINITELY BETTER THAN THE SEQUEL) and will complain about the most inane crap, one guy bitched about Brume Tower being an awful level because the enemy placements were too cheap(you can guess which room got him). One another hand though, it does kind of make me love the game a bit more. But man we really need a Haters gonna hate Gif of a bunch of DS 2 NP Cs strolling through Majula or something.

However I was thinking about something playing Souls the past few days, and that's how it doesn't really feel like a current gen(as in PS 360) game except in regards to online. I don't mean that in a bad way, but the game could've been an PS 2/Xbox game and while I guess it's too much memory to hold still would've felt Soulsy? like the combat while satisfying isn't really spectacular aesthetically or all that complex, the levels in both games are actually quite small for the most part, there's a crapload of bottomless pits to hide how small the levels really are, the story is pretty thin, the AI is pretty simplistic and borderline moronic, the punishable death system and save for a few bosses most of them are pretty basic in pattern. It's kind of how I could see why someone who isn't a fan of Souls would find it dated, because really at its core it doesn't quite feel like a next gen game. And again, this isn't a bad thing but it is a noticeable one. The online component does feel next gen and is very innovative to where it adds a lot to it but the actual gameplay outside of that feels more like playing strong to older game design philosphies

If the reactions to the DS2 dlc have taught me anything, it's that people don't actually know what a reskin is.

That said, that one room in Brume Tower (you all know the one) absolutely is bullshit.

[up][up] I'd argue that the game isn't so much "last gen" as much as it avoids the nearly ubiquitous hand-holding and emphasis on graphical fidelity over everything else that's endemic in the modern gaming industry. Besides the lack of lip synching.

The story is also, arguably, deliberately spread quite thin; there's a lot of depth to the setting and the lore, but very little in the way of narrative, with the plot being conveyed mainly through environmental details, the locations and descriptions of enemies and items, and so on, which is a form of storytelling that's pretty much unique to the medium of video games.

Also of note was people saying "oh, this boss is stupidly easy" when they're watching a GUIDE on beating the boss.

He wasn't easy for me...

I know some people think Raime powers up instantly when you're wearing the big V's helm, but could it be that the anger is more directed towards you defeating his former comrade and wearing his helm as a sign of spoil rather than thinking you're Velstadt?

Well they used to be comrades, but they also had a falling out. So it could go either way really.

Speaking of Raime, he is kicking my butt way harder than Elena or Sihn ever did. Any tips?

[up] Great Magic Barrier does wonders for his powered-up two-handing.

While I beat every boss in Sunken King the first try (yes, even the Gank squad though they were certainly tricky and there was one moment of pure luck that I lived through), I definitely had more issues/more fun with the Fume Knight and Sir Alonne. Smelter 2.0 I died once on, but despite being a reskin he definitely had new swing timing to keep me on my toes.

Who the hell is calling Alonne a reskin of Lost Sinner?! Lost Sinner had less variety in her moveset than Alonne, that jackass.

Such disrespect to Sir Alonne, I dislike. One does not compare a samurai with a Man With The Iron Mask wannabe. I've seen people die more often to Sir Alonne than I have to blue Smelter. Raime is of course off limits.

[up][up] Raime boasts some of the highest magic and elemental resistance in the game, maybe even the series. Watch as your prized Soul Spears do little more than 200 damage (sometimes even less if you're co-op'ing), so you're basically stuck with all-out melee. A shield (even Havel's Greathshield) can only save you for long, so it's advised you start adjusting your rolls to the attacks he telegraphs (the Simpleton's Ring found in the DLC ups your Adaptability by 5, even though the description doesn't mention it). If he starts swinging his ultragreatsword, back away a bit if you're not too sure you can roll through all the frames. This also applies for the second phase, even moreso with his 270 degree flame swing (ridiculous hitbox). The spinning fireballs are quite predictable, just don't get too close to the epicenter or the blast will kill you.

For some people apparently, Alonne is practically the hardest boss in the game; it took Yukaslegion almost an hour to beat Alonne, and about 2 tries to kill Raime.
