Er, this has been way before "Me Too". Way before. David Byrne is one of my favorite musicians and artists, but he's an egotistical asshole.
Trust me, "Happy Happy Joy Joy" is immune to Mr. K.
(Fortunately, my famous friends — mostly famous rockstars but some comedians — are all sweet guys, one I've known since I was a teen and now I feel really REALLY old saying that. I can't say who, but they all have TV Tropes pages and have been on The Simpsons and riffed by MST 3 K.)

"Separating art from the artist is bullshit, especially when said artist's art is blatantly influenced by his own toxic behavior and actions."
I'll be generous and say I strongly disagree. Then again, I'm 47 and have seen a lot. A whole lot.

David Byrne never sexually harassed anyone nor did he sleep with underage girls and openly have a fetish for them.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?"David Byrne never sexually harassed anyone nor did he sleep with underage girls and openly have a fetish for them."
And you know this how?
I love Orson Scott Card's The Abyss novelization. Doesn't mean I have to love the author.
There's something called Death of the Author, I believe.

All the same, I'd rather give my support to creators who aren't horrible people.
Disgusted, but not surprisedMost of the time when sexual harassers are busted, there's always some kind of rumors going around beforehand about it. Bill Cosby is one example, as is Woody Allen. I've seen nothing about that regarding Byrne.
For another, death of the author does nothing to erase the fact that a work is made by a horrible person and reflects their worldviews. This all comes off as saying "Yeah this person literally fucked teens but he made good shit so who cares".
That too. Don't support horrible people.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?In fairness it's possible to not be a sexual offender and still be a total jerk. Just that seems to be one of the recurring offences for celebrity assholes right now (and the one most certified to destroy their career).
I haven't heard the stories about Byrne though.

See, having lived through the AIDS crisis, seeing friends die, and dealing with physical and mental wounds, I have a different outlook.
For example, Michael J. Nelson once gave an interview with the National Review (?). And they painted him as a right-wing conservative.
But nowhere in any of the riffs he's done for MST 3 K and Rifftrax have I seen any evidence of being a bigot. And he was the head writer since season 2.
I feel like the community reacted to Chick-fil-A the absolute wrong way. Moral outrage? Feh. Anyone can claim morality.
I would have taken the campiest gay boys I know, as well as my drag queen friends, and made Chick-Fil-A the gayest spot in NYC, and try to get everyone else to do it.
Imagine the owners having to deal with Chick-Fil-A being a gay icon.
But, nah, they gave homophobes something to rally around.
Again, nothing will stop me from being Happy Happy Joy Joy. It belongs to me now.
...Chick-Fil-A donates to fucking gay conversion bullshit. That's...I don't know what this argument even is.
All I know about David Byrne is that he's an asshole in a "not good around people" way, but he's still pretty cool. I feel better about someone being a general generic asshole than someone literally fucking teens.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Makes me glad I never lived in an area that had a Chik-fil-a. I probably would have gotten hooked on their food early in my life and then be forced to face the fact that by eating there I'm basically supporting gay conversion torture.

Disgusted, but not surprisedNot if you make it the hotspot for gay boys to kiss and make out in.
Still giving your money to people who support gay conversion therapy. That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works. And now we're apparently defending that pedophile Woody Allen so I'm calling in the mods because this derail is over.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? And then their money goes to supporting places that Mind Rape people like them.

Disgusted, but not surprisedYou can respond without the condescending "Darling", thanks.
Agreed.

Disgusted, but not surprisedThis is starting to derail things.
Also yes, seconding this, please tone down the condescension there.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Anyway, did boycotting Chick-fil-A do anything except give right-wing conservatives something to rally around?
Best to claim than reject. For example, rainbows...
Dude, we're done. This is derailing the thread.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?May I suggest we not throw the work of people like Bob Camp, Richard Pursel, Vincent Waller, Chris Reccardi, Bill Wray, Lynne Naylor, etc. under the bus, most of whom contributed just as much, if not more, to the show, and who don't have teenage girl fetishes?
(I can only wonder what Bob Camp, considering how strongly he feels about John, thinks about this...)

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."That does leave a mixed feeling over it, yes.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Back on topic, please.
Soooo... Nick Shorts... Do you have a favorite, everyone?
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.I’ve seen gay guys pretend to be straight for a Chick-Fil-A sandwich!
Yeah I know, derailing. But it seems like the perfect opportunity to make that reference . . . which actually makes me hungry for Chick-Fil-A all things consideres since I actually enjoy their stuff.
Anyway on topic if you mean those pilots that hit online, honestly I haven’t watched all of them but I do enjoy the shit out of Danger Planet!
EDIT!!! Planet Panic! How the hell did I mixed up those two shorts? They aired for two different networks.

I quite liked The Girl from Dinosaur Island and would like to see that one get picked up.
"Lucian, don’t be afraid, we’ll make it through this."
