I liked Despicable Me 2 >.>

Something about animated movies always draws me in.

[up]Didn't think those were very good, except Frozen.

I think Gravity was really good.

I'd say Twelve Years A Slave was the best film of 2013. Amazing acting across the board, excellent script, excellent film, extremely compelling. If Chiwetel Ejiofor doesn't get the Best Actor Oscar it will be a travesty, and several of the supporting actors were also excellent.

Aside from that, it hasn't been an overly strong year for movies, and a particularly poor one for blockbusters. None of the year's comic book movies were particularly good - they were pretty much average across the board (IM 3, Thor 2, The Wolverine), with Man of Steel being rather worse than the rest in my view, and ditto for Star Trek Into Darkness. With the second instalment of The Hobbit also being merely okay, and some other stuff like Elysium falling short of expectations, it really wasn't a good year for action movies. The only one that was really good was Catching Fire. Most other years there's been at least a couple big-budget movies I really liked (2012: Avengers and Amazing Spider-Man; 2011: X-Men: First Class, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; 2010: Toy Story 3, Inception, How to Train Your Dragon; 2009: Up, Star Trek).

Going to see American Hustle tonight; hopefully that one will be good. (How Jennifer Lawrence managed to be in that, and apparently do a great job, while being in two blockbuster franchises at the same time and doing a stunning job of them, is beyond my comprehension.)

Pacific Rim is easily the best Action Movie of the year for me.

Pacific rim? Pacific rim. For I could not have imagined giant robots vs giant monsters in glorious big screen cgi.

That, or i didn't watch many movies this year.

The Worlds End, Frozen and I raise with The Hunt. Not sure about the order yet, though.

Stories We Tell deconstructed documentaries, while at the same time being a really interesting and personal story.

Gravity was gravity. Space is awesome, and since I'll probably never go, I'm glad I saw gravity in 3d

12 Years a Slave was just devastating. Doubt I'll be able to watch it again, in the best way possible. Best cast performance this year.

Inside Llewyn Davis is one of the Coens best. Loathsome lovable characters, great music, beautiful film making. It's what they do.

Blue is the warmest colour is the most visceral film of the year, with the best performance I saw in Adele Exarchopolous. If you've grown up, you can relate to this. Don't watch it with your parents/children

I have a few favorites. Brian De Palma's Passion is the one on top of my head right now for contender to my favorite of the year.

This was also an outstanding year for sci-fi. Between Star Trek Into Darkness, Gravity, Pacific Rim and Oblivion, it sure was one hell of a great year to be a science fiction fanatic (at least to me).

Plus Her (which I haven't seen yet, but is getting rave reviews across the board) sounds like a pretty awesome take on sci-fi romance which we haven't seen enough of
