2014 MIT Mystery Hunt

It's that time again. I know we've had a few people from TV Tropes join the hunt in the past.

For those who don't know the MIT Mystery Hunt is an annual puzzle event that happens some time in January, usually on Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend. This upcoming year, it will start January 17. It is the biggest puzzle event out there. These aren't just normal puzzles. For one, there's a definite narrative that takes place throughout the entire hunt. Also, the puzzles (with a few exceptions) don't come with instructions. You have to infer based on limited clues what the answer will be.

If you are interested in joining (and I highly recommend it. It's great fun), go to ducksoup.vbprog.zonexus.net and ask to join that forum. That's our center of operations. Just make sure you're join reason lets me know you're human and not spam. If you are uncomfortable joining a random forum out there, PM me, and I can give you other ways you can contribute without having to actually join the forums. If you have any questions or want to back me up in how fun this event is, please feel free to post here or PM me. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

How do I join?

Go here and register on the forum. The solving itself is scattered over that forum, on ICQ, and on Google Docs. Much of it happens on the chat, simply because of the speed of communication there.

Definitely taking part this year like always. Looking forward to it! Will ask around for helpers.

I am quite excited. The theme is very intriguing.

Any guesses on what the real theme is?

My guess? Super-villains. Very little basis for it, but I have a feeling that's it.
