Magical Shenanigans the RP? Oh boy. I'm interested.
UhOK, it's been suggested that I limit PCs to First Year characters, so...
"Yup. That tasted purple."- Name: September Thorburn
- Age: 11 (12 in a week)
- Gender: Female
- House: Slytherin
- Magical Heritage: Pureblood
- Species: Human.†
- Appearance: For all official functions where recognition is desired. Much more variable in other circumstances.
- Backstory: September's parents were most confused at her initial eye and hair colour—but when they started changing, their bizarreness got accepted as simply the most appropriate way to represent a blank canvas. It was also hardly that exactingly rare in their family—one aunt, September's great grandmother, her niece...
A few weeks before attending school, September was asked to learn a few more rules—some to prevent her from trying to take advantage of her own abilities in a manner that the normal rules could never hope to cover, and a few more to make things easier on the staff. - Personality: Enthusiastic, bright, always forgets to do homework or much of anything else. She makes up for it by good performance in classes... but she's still absolutely terrible at stuff that requires any sort of external dedication. Very determined to be 'the best', though that's about as undefined as you'd expect of someone her age. Not too good at making friends, and September feels rather... awkward about trying to, worrying that she just won't fit.
Not keen on the normal inter-house rivalries. - Personal Items:
- Wand: 13 Inches, Cherry Wood and Dragon Heartstring, Somewhat Springy
- Cat: Antoinette is... well, she's very innocent looking, very orange, and about a year and a half old. And she will steal your seat.
- Remembrall: Despite the hate they get, knowing that you've forgotten something can help... which is good when you always forget what you're supposed to be doing.
- Special gifts and abilities: Metamorphmagus

ಠ_ಠ- Name: Liese Redel
- Age: 11
- Gender: Female
- House: Slytherin
- Magical Heritage: Muggleborn
- Species: Human
- Appearance: Here◊, made with this.
- Backstory: Liese was born to a pair of academic women (well, they used a donor, but whatever, she was still raised by them) in some small university town. Life was largely peaceful until they got the acceptance letter.
- Personality: Liese is a very academic girl, but one who has very little idea of how socializing works. She's also prone to Brutal Honesty, and has a huge soft spot for animals.
- Personal Items:
- Wand: Aspen wood, 12 inches, unicorn tail hair
- Pet: A calico kitten named Schrodinger.
If I may, Slytherin probably isn't the best place for a Muggle-born character, what with the inherent prejudice. That, and the fact that her personality doesn't seem to favour a house that prides itself on ambition and cunning.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Well, I actually was going to play around with that prejudice. And I was sort of going with this idea of Slytherin?
Exist, pursued by bearYeah, that video was meant to be a joke. Either way I'd rather that we stuck to canon interpretations of things.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Canon interpretation? I'm not sure what you mean. The video seems to be a fairly good idea of what Slytherin 'behavior' is, even though it's meant as some kind of Serious Business thing.
Exist, pursued by bearCanon interpretation meaning stuff that is actually in the books and other fluff from the author.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Ye-es. I meant what about the stuff in that video or the idea conflict with canon? I was asking because I didn't understand what your issue with it was.
Exist, pursued by bearAs I have already stated, the key defining trait of a Slytherin student is ambition, just as a Gryffindor's is courage, Hufflepuff's is loyalty and Ravenclaw's is curiosity. In order to get past Salazar Slytherin's prejudices against muggle-born witches and wizards a prospective student would have to demonstrate a high degree of ambition. I have not seen this in the sheet you have given me.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Well, I don't think that the characters need to be paragons of their House's main virtue... Take Neville for example - for most of his first year he didn't seem too 'courageous.'
Exist, pursued by bear*sigh*
Right, since every time I have tried to explain what is wrong with the character and offered you the chance to fix it has been met with Rules Lawyering, I am invoking Rule Zero.
Liese is formally rejected.

"Yup. That tasted purple."So does Giants.
"The literal meaning of life is whatever you're doing that prevents you from killing yourself." Albert CamusHave anything from a primary source to back that up?
"Yup. That tasted purple."Admittedly, it's a weak evidence. More to the point is that Hags are classified as Beings, and thus capable of reasoning capacities similar to Human.
"The literal meaning of life is whatever you're doing that prevents you from killing yourself." Albert Camus"Giants are cannibals" =/= "Giants eat children". Cannibalism refers to eating the flesh of a member of one's own species.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Very well. Does my point of them being, well, Being, stands? I'll concede or alter the biography to your decision.

So even though I still haven’t gotten around to starting the last one properly yet, I’m randomly rebooting another old RP for some reason. >.>
But yeah, the gist of it is that it’s a fairly ordinary Slice of Life story set at Hogwarts. Just because. Or rather because it’s perfectly possible to get some nice crazy shenanigans going there without massive apocalyptic duels and the like.
Anyway, it’s September 1st, 2013. The Hogwarts Express has puffed majestically out of King’s Cross Station, and is thundering north. On board, students new and old are preparing for the start of a new school year.
