Would anyone be interested in an RP based off of a world in which the tales of Barsoom, Pellucidar, War of the Worlds, etc., actually happened? America, China, Germany, Antarctica(bunch of subtly imperialistic mad scientists), France, Ubunta(generic super advanced African kingdom) and the Rossu(1950s style flying saucer aliens, conquered South America) are the seven great powers.

We would play as the Human Liberation Front, a group of people with connections to the various extraterrestrial attacks, who are working to liberate Earth from alien influence. Below is a map. I will work on a template if there is interest.

Definitely interested. How are you going to reconcile Barsoom with the Martians of War of the Worlds?

[up] John Carter, in his initial arrival on Mars, began a war of liberation on the Sarmaks, who ruled over the various Barsoomian tribes and city states, ruling with the aid of the Therns. After thirty years of reverse engineering, the people of Barsoom booted off the Martians, and they retreated to find another world they thought would be primitive. Good ol' Terra. They were wrong. They wound up retreating from Earth, with 10% of their 1860s population, and ruling over a Venusian continent.

Name:

Red Baron: Title or Nickname.

Age:

Gender:

Personality: Length of your choice, but be fair.

Nationality: What country are they from? Only 2 from great powers(America, France, China, Japan, Ubunta, Ottoman, Germany, or Austria)

Skills: Any interesting powers or abilities they may have. Anything from classic fiction(1870 to 1950s, no superheroes) is allowed.

History: Spoiler if you want, but give a basic definition of your character's background. Why they are what they are, how they got to where they are, etc. At least a paragraph (4-5 lines) please.

Items: What do they have with them at the the start. You can have up to 6 items but there is no hammer space in this RP! Be realistic in your items. Draw upon ideas from old pulp science fiction. I understand this will be difficult without my writeup, but I will have that up soon.

Extra/misc: Whatever doesn't go anywhere else.

I'll have the writeup on here by tomorrow to give you guys a better view of the world.

I'll tell you right now I'm probably going to rip off The Shadow, because I love that character.

Oh, I am definitely interested.

Just wondering whether there's going to be any mention of the Selenites from First Men On The Moon.

Also- when you say interesting abilities/powers but not a superhero...

Does that mean someone like Griffin is included in that?

I'm just a fan of H.G.Wells, so this is right up my alley.

Sorry, guys. Finals are a bitch. Anyhoo, should have something up by Monday or Tuesday, both plot and character sheet. And you guys can add anything you want, as long as its from 1890s to 1960s. Only contemporary stuff, and the more middle ground it is, and the more Wells-y, the better.

EDIT- Also, yes, the Selenites will be in this. Been a while since I read that story. Need to get back with my sci fi stuff. And that does include Griffin. Or Dr. Hyde.

The only canon things are in the title. As long as it isn't too ridiculous, you can do whatever you want with this universe.

Character Name: Joseph Nathaniel Winfield

Nicknames/Codenames: Dr. Roboto(nickname), Mechalord(unappreciated nickname)

Powers/Skills: controls Martian robots(like tripods, but more bipedal) with his telepathic abilities. He has no other remarkable abilities, and is rather clumsy when fighting himself. Manages to make friends rather easily, though. He has a limited telepathic ability, which is less mind reading, and more sharing information. More giving than taking.

Nationality: American. Rather nationalist, but his racism extends to nationalities, not people.

Appearance: Brown hair, green eyes, thin glasses, rather skinny, 5'11. Prefers trenchcoat.

Items: Nothing much besides a heat ray pistol and a radium gun(smuggled in from Zodanga). He also has the autograph of Dr. Henry Indiana Jones and Tars Tarkas in a notebook as one of his personal possessions. And of course, his glasses.

Backstory(at least two paragraphs): Joseph realized he could control robots at an early age, but kept it secret for a long time. When he was sixteen, the city of Hartford was attacked by kaiju, and his robots saved the day. Winfield became a celebrity, but he couldn't handle the pressure, and fled. The Arcticans invaded in 1988, and destroyed the city of Whitehorse, where Winfield was hiding. He ran into the HLF a short while later, and has been working with them for ten years. He is currently twenty-nine. He is more reluctant to go into combat, and usually stays to the back, telepathically supporting the team. He is part of the HLF base on Panama(as are the rest of the characters you're playing). He typically has two or three robots supporting Colombian or Venezuelan rebels at all times.

Can I play as an AU version of the creation of Genevan med student Victor Frankenstein from an alternate universe where he was not abandoned and rejected by Victor?

Edit: Wait , actually , maybe I shall play one of its descendants. After all , if the Creature was raised and educated by Victor and treated as an actual person , and later introduced to society , he would have more positive interaction with others. The ugly but intelligent and eloquent "son" ( as far as other people know he was hidden away until he was older) of a man from a wealthy , respectable Genevan family , might attract a wife . More deformed/ugly people than the Creature have found love in real life , after all.

[up]Whatever you think works. This is the Panama branch of the Human Liberation Front. Make it as wacky and pulpy as you want without being cartoony.

The first mission of the HLF will be a series of guerilla raids in the Brazilian rainforest.
