Although I will add one thing: Don't forget about the European Counterpart to TPP, TTIP.
Keep Rolling OnSo if Bernie gets the presidency, he'll obviously veto this, and Trump will obviously wave it through. What would Hillary do? I haven't paid a huge amount of attention to her economic policies.
I think both Trump and Hillary are wildcards. Hillary has been pressured into opposing it because it's so disliked by some part of the "blue" base. Trump I am not familiar enough, but the free trade implications will annoy a big part of his base.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI think this thread should be renamed, in order to include TTIP as well.

I, the thread starter, am hyper okay with this and give a thumbs up. Not sure how to get it. Or how to honk a Mod to do so.
Many were increasingly of the opinion that they'd all made a big mistake in coming down from the trees in the first place. - Douglas AdamsThread title change is go!
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'm fairly certain Trump's been against it the entire time, him and Cruz have really been the only Republican candidates that have spoken out against it.
I can't help but fear that the only reason Hilliary is speaking out against it now is because she's just trying to make sure Bernie can't use it against her - as in if she's elected president she might go back to being pro-TPP.
If I remember correctly, Fiorina also opposed it.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Yeah. I too suspect Hillary, being already entrenched with her corporate backers, will pass the TPP if elected. Trump, I'm not sure of. While he was vocal against the TPP, he also is no fan of China, and given that the TPP in some ways was designed to hinder China economically, it could grow on him.
Yeah, from what I hear, China's wiggling their way in to TPP.
Got a source? From what I can find China isn't even a potential member.

China said it's willing to join, but it was never in the agreement.
Supposedly, they were very disappointed.
Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleThat says China will benefit from it, not be part of it.
"And the Bunny nails it!" ~ Gabrael "If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we." ~ CyranWhich considering what the overall purpose and intent for TPP was meant to be before they latched on so many non-trade agreements that it isn't funny (being to make sure China isn't the top of the food chain), is very ironic.
I'd say it just shows how stupid and incompetently run the entire thing is.
"And the Bunny nails it!" ~ Gabrael "If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we." ~ CyranEspecially with the controversy. First inconveniently timed (and placed) air bombings then scandals regarding bribed spokespeople for TPP. I'm surprised that this didn't get a huger backlash like SOPA, or even worse with the implications that the two events caused.
That Doctors Without Borders conspiracy theory is nutty bullshit if I've ever seen it.
"And the Bunny nails it!" ~ Gabrael "If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we." ~ CyranSo I spoke with a Canadian MP today regarding the topic of TPP. She's well aware of how broken TPP is. Rather than just outright close it, though, Canada's still going to sign it so that they could keep the option open, since rejecting it from the get go would mean closing doors.
I didn't bring up a lot of the problems regarding TPP, but again, it's well aware to the point where she and possibly Justin Trudeau are considering public consolation to get a general idea of what people think of TPP.
Really, the signing is practically meaningless, it's basically a "signal of intent". The important part is ratification, and it doesn't matter what happens if the US eventually doesn't, and it's too much of a hot-button issue for Republicans in vulnerable seats for them to risk doing so before the election, but that also may simply result in an anti-TPP president.

H.B. WardWill TPP and TTIP harm torrent sites?
I haven't read specific documentation saying it will, but I'd put money on those sites getting fucked over.
