You are now an employee of CubiCo. Today is your first day on the job, and your job is to travel through the CubiCo. NiftyPortal™ and enter the strange universe known as the Boxel to mine precious materials from the landscape.

You will be paid by blocks of material mined. There are no bonuses, holidays, medical or dental coverage, chances of promotion or raises, or living acommodations.

Enclosed is your employee ID, in the form of a badge. Your chosen avatar in the Boxel is stored on this badge, and will instantly activate upon entering the NiftyPortal™.

Note that once you are in the Boxel, you will be unable to return. The World Council and CubiCo. thank you for sacrificing your place in the world to provide riches to the rest of us. Good luck.

Okay, so this RP will start you off in a futuristic world that has become so dystopian that becoming a badly paid manual worker in an alternate universe that the rich are looting for resources is actually preferable to life in the streets of the megacities.

But once you have entered the Boxel - the endless non-crapsack Flat World composed of cubes that are hard to break down further than their natural 1 cubic foot formations - the RP quickly becomes like a meshing together of the gameplay of Minecraft with the endless crafting possibilities of Sburb. Keep in mind that the Boxel is not uninhabited; many types of wildlife and monsters roam the blocky biomes.

This RP, other than the beginning glimpses of the world of origin, will be slightly lighter and softer than the mid-point on the Sliding Scale of Idealism vs. Cynicism, and will be very action-oriented.

Characters themselves aren't actually shaped like blocks, but pretty much everything else will be. Characters can be derived from OCs, fan characters or characters from a canon, but will obviously need to be modified to fit the setting; characters specifically created for this RP obviously have no such issue.

All characters will start their life in the Boxel relatively isolated from the other characters, but close enough that encounters with each other are inevitable. Also, characters start out with nothing but their avatar and its clothing, a 1 cubic foot machine that acts as a teleporter back to the normal world for material that has been gathered, and an ax.

This RP will take a lot of inspiration from several Minecraft mods. I will post info on the kinds of things we should encounter in the discussion topic, and ideas are welcome.

There will be no GM in this RP. Instead, all players, including myself, will be expected to use common sense to keep the RP from going out of hand. The characters start out as ordinary people, albeit with Impossibly Cool Clothes or other such frills, and will not gain superpowers or anything else that permanently increases their Super Weight. Magic is allowed, but only via artifacts.

As there is no GM, it is a good idea to boost the story if it starts getting slow. To help the story along, chests containing notes and books from various mysterious long-gone individuals will be strewn about the landscape. If you can't think of anything else, have someone find a chest.

Be that as it may, I'm pretty sure it's against the rules.

By the rules somebody MUST be holding supreme argument breaking power in the RP. You can leave the plot progression and everything else to the equal rights, but for when arguments inevitably happen, there must be a firm hand available to instil order by slapping the fit-throwers a bit.
