Looks neat, and ooh yes it's going to be out on Linux (and OSX) too.
Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.Interesting premise. Not much else going for it as far as I can tell. Is that fucking RPGmaker I see? Really?
This is a signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.Do all RPG Maker games suck?
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.wait, if you're playing an NPC, doesn't that make that character a PC?
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.Not necessarily, but making it in RP Gmaker basically says "I have no idea how to C++ (well, C# and JS given that 99.9% of indie games are made in Unity these days) and don't want to learn."
Granted, I'm not sure it's actually RP Gmaker at a second glance. Said "engine" has some rather notable "quirks" that I'm not seeing here.
Yes, though your PC is basically in the role of a JRPG (or early CRPG) NPC.

This is a signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.Using RPG Maker also isn't the kind of thing that should require a kickstarter project.
Still, this premise sounds really interesting.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Wait, how do we know what it's being programmed in?
I have a message from another time...We don't. They're just guessing based on the visual style (which is very similar to what RPG Maker games look like, but that could be intentional).
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)It might even be possible that the pre-alpha video is in RPG-Maker, as a way to quickly make a prototype for the video. Who knows?
And yeah, I do realize the irony of playing as an NPC. I suppose being a PC isn't the message. It's more that you're not the Hero.

I have a message from another time...For some reason I thought we had a topic on this already. Oh well.
Looks interesting (it's basically the concepts of What Measure Is a Mook? and What the Hell, Hero? mashed up), but the style doesn't really catch my eye much and it doesn't look like something that I'd enjoy.

I think this may be a bit unnecessary player shaming combined with making fun of games too primitive to give character to NP Cs.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatBut there were NP Cs as far back as, say, Final Fantasy.
I have a message from another time...That's a rather pessimistic view of it.

This is the sort of thing most players will be laughing with, I feel. Who, when playing an RPG hasn't, at some point, chuckled at how their hero is basically a kleptomaniac?
I have a message from another time...Well, Ultima was a big experiment in making the hero be moral. The premise starts from Kleptomaniac Hero bein the baseline that it was subverting.

I have a message from another time...Embric of Wulfhammer was apparently made in RPG Maker and it was pretty fun. Also contained elements focusing on the npcs take on things.
Anyway yeah, I'm also keeping my eye on this game.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI'm also pretty sure that To The Moon was made in RPG Maker. God, I love To The Moon.
You Are Not The Hero is a Kickstarter project. The game's an action RPG platform game with a twist. That twist being that, well, you are not the hero. You're an NPC, one of the put-upon locals that the "heroes" harass by barging into their homes, looting their treasures, and pestering for information.
Apparenly, the plot will involve the focal character, Petula, being indirectly pulled into the plot the heroes are following in some fashion. They plan to include multiple ways to deal with threats and sidequests, and sustainable minigames, like the ability to set up an item shop, or become a professional fisherman.
It sounds like an interesting premise.
