[up]Oh, I know that. However, that doesn't mean it was a good thing. What I meant is that is not the editing that popularized Anime in US. Even without said editing the audience would still be able to connect to the stories just fine. But the fact they needed to be edited due to stupid Moral Guardians is still a negative thing.

If it didn't get edited, Moral Guardians means it wouldn't be aired.

The choice isn't between "edited" and "unedited", the choice is "edited" and "unaired".

I'd say it was often a more in-the-middle thing. Certainly there were edits to get rid of violent or sexual imagery or any references to Japanese culture, but in some cases, they are needed... Some edits I have seen made the story more comprehensible.
