Unable to save changes.

I've developed a weird bug where, after I edit a page and click the 'save changes' button, not only are the changes not saved, but I then cannot edit the page - it simply says it's still checked out in my name. I've not turned off cookies, and it seems to be browser-independent.

Any ideas on what to do?

Are you signed in using a different handle capitalization than when you registered?

Unfortunately no; exact capitalization as the original account AFAIK. I might try different capitalizations, though, just to see if that might work.

(On edit: Capitalizing the name actually seemed to work - the page saved as it should! Thank you!)

Yeah, that's a bug. Editing a page under any other capitalization will not save the page and keep it locked.

That should be written up somewhere.

Ah...I was wondering. I have the same bug...I'll try to capitalize my name the next time I log in (though I didn't do it originally, but since this apparently works...)

I have logged on as both Cider and cider and still cannot get any editing done because "this entry has been checked out by cider". I know this is my second time complaining about it but what I did last time is not working anymore.

Okay, I am loggin in a cider, lower case as that is who is "checking out" so then I edit and see no changes. Every time the log in screen is logged in as Cider upper case, as if it is automatically reverting to that.

Edit: and now it works, in fact I hit the back button and instead of going back to the forum I ended up on the page I was trying to edit as if I had been editing before coming her to complain. Weird.

I'm suffering the exact same thing.

I log in, I edit, and I SAVE... and nothing happens. Then I'm locked out for 20 minutes until the edit lock expires, with this proudly displayed at the top of the screen:

'This entry is checked out until 08:13 Pacific Standard Time by pyrevulpimorph.'

It looks to me like the system changes the capitalization of your handle during the saving process, almost.

Ha! I have not been able to edit the wiki since I don't know when. I have logged in nearly every combination of capitalization and spelling I can think of to no result.

I think I need a minion, if I want to ever do anything on the wiki again, till then I will just lurk on the forums.

Edit: The lock page notice is "indirectactivetransport" the log on screen is "Indirect Active Transport" while the name on the forums is Indirect Active Transport". I honestly cannot remember how I originally typed it but I think I am just going to brute force until something stick and then never logout again. I think there are only forty six five hundred and twenty nine possible combinations.

edit 2:Well it is working now, but I am still not certain which one it was that went in. Guess I will just have to repeat the process every time I log in.

Yep, the above advice was correct. For about six to seven months, I had been logging in as "pyrevulpimorph" instead of as "Pyre Vulpimorph". Since the system allowed me to log in without error, I never thought anything was wrong, not knowing that TV Tropes was failing to save all my edits. Only when I logged in as "Pyre Vulpimorph" were changes saved.
