Does Not Illustrate: Get Back Here Boss

Noticed while browsing tropes that the specific image for "Get Back Here!" Boss doesnt really demonstarte the trope; while the actual boss fight might be a Get Back Here, its hard to tell with a still from a side scrolling game where the boss is facing the player character. There are probably examples from sonic that would work though, just not this one.

I agree it's a bad image. It doesn't make sense to say, "Get back here," to someone you're facing.

Well, Sonic's running and the machine does look like it's venting exhaust, so while it could be improved, it's not bad enough to me to warrant a pull, so I'll vote Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

Yeah, it looks to me like Sonic is chasing that thing. I don't see a problem.

Neither do I.

It seems tremendously obvious to me that he's venting exhaust and moving backwards, but I know I am incredibly biased. I can certainly see someone seeing it as Eggman shooting at Sonic.

I'd be open to suggestions, but certainly not a pull.

It is not tremendously obvious to me; it looks like cannons shooting toward Sonic, not exhaust venting away from Sonic. Keep Until Better Image Suggested though.

It looks like exhaust to me - that sort of pipe doesn't look like a cannon. Keep Until Better Image Suggested, thusly.

While the tubes could be seen as cannons or rocket engines, the fact that only the left one is firing doesn't support the engine theory (using only one engine should make it turn, not fly backwards). Also, I think it looks like the machine has its back to a wall.

I'll also go with "Keep Until Better Image Suggested".

I'm not familiar with the boss fight, but I can tell from the exhaust that Dr. Eggman's flying away, and the fact that Sonic's running.

In case if anyone's wondering, I'd assume there should be some clues that there was bullets fired out (like some dust on the floor or visible bullets) to give feedback of him firing what looks like a canon if it's intended to be the weapon firing.

I'm sure that in actual gameplay, the flames actually alternates between each exhaust. It's not that obvious because the picture's not animated. And I can also see that said "wall" is in the foreground if you were to interpret that as explaining this trope. And why would there be what appears to be spikeballs underneath Dr. Eggman if Sonic's not chasing him as he runs away?

In any case, the fight in Ladyrinth Zone of the original Sonic the hedgehog came to mind as a possible alternate picture: [1]◊

I was thinking maybe along the line of something like The Zeekeeper fight from Mario And Luigi Dream Team (Which i cant seem to find any good images of atm). Since luigi is running after him for almost the whole fight I think it would fit quite well

as an alternative, the dino pirahna fight◊ from Super Mario Galaxy or the Shadow fight◊ from sonic generations, for something like:

Neither of those two screams ""Get Back Here!" Boss" to me.

The former looks just like Mario about to strike Dino Piranha's tail, while the latter looks just like Sonic and Shadow racing.

Captions are supposed to supplement the picture, not explain it.

And Zeekeeper fight sounds like a great idea... until I've realized that may constitute as a spoiler.

mmm... hadnt thought about spoiler status. Those other two are the best i can come up with for now outside of it but im sure given time we could find a better image than the current.

Besides, Dino Piranha's Not An Example, as his main mode of attack is to charge at mario (you have to heat its weakpoint, which is its tail, and in order to do that, you have to run behind him).

yeahhhhhhhhhh............. seems im a little braindead today. so we're striking those 3 suggestions due to Spoilers, Not An Example and Does Not Illustrate respectively. The last suggestion i can thing of is egg emperor from sonic heroes, so something like

I've played the game and I can't tell what's going on there.

Looking at the Sonic pic, my brain goes "yeah, I can kinda see how he's chasing the boss", which isn't exactly a ringing endorsement, but good enough for Keep Until Better Image Suggested. None of the other suggestions work as well.

I see it in 11.2. The purple light circle must be the boss who's running away from them.

Except the boss fight is against Shadow (the black hedgehog), not the purple circle.

Then it shows an actual race, and not the trope.

It looks like a race, but it's more of a high speed battle. It definitely qualifies, but I can't imagine there would be a way to make it not look like a race.

No to 11.2 or 15. Both of them look even more like races.

yeah, i dont know. seems finding an image good enough to constitute a pull might be harder than i thought. anyone else got suggestions?

You can see that it demonstrates the trope by looking at the circumstances (Sonic running, spike balls under Robotnik's machine, there's a firey exhaust coming out of the machine^note not a gun. If that was true, there would either be visible bullets or little dust clouds on the floor. Also not the only one with the exhaust out, since one can assume that the exhaust alternates between the two pipes and not the one, unlike someone who've interpreted it being the only exhaust that's on, the fact that you can see that the tree's trunk is in the foreground (if you consider the archway of the branch with the spike balls beneath it).

I've also suggested this◊ picture based on the Ladyrinth Zone boss fight, but everyone seemed to have ignored it if they didn't comment about it.

Labyrinth Zone boss looks pretty good. I feel like one that shows the water would be even better, though.
