Yeah, she has the prototype boiler that would become the inspiration for the one in Shimakaze.

In the comic, Amatsukaze makes a point of declaring she's a member of the Kagerou-class, much to Shimakaze's dismay. Overall she has some Shimakaze inspired features, but I'd say her clothes overall more closely resemble Yukikaze/Tokitsukaze style except black.

I see the four of them often appearing in fanart together, which is kinda sad since it means Hatsukaze, who was Yukikaze, Tokitsukaze, and Amatsukaze's actual division mate gets shafted more often than not.

Guys, I need your help in figuring out the identity of two shipgirls in this doujinshi that I've come across, because I've searched high and low and could not for the life of me narrow down their identities to anyone, even though I went through the entire character sheet to compare to official images.

First mystery shipgirl, underboobs with bare nipples warning. This is as safe as I can crop down the image without possibly removing potentially essential identifiers in her outfit. If it's not clear enough, just PM me and I'll share the original page in all of its NSFW glory.

Second mystery shipgirl. This one was much easier to crop down to SFW without compromising the details.

Second one is Kasumi. First might be Kako

... Indeed the second one looks like a dead-ringer for Kasumi, now that I look more closely. I probably missed the resemblance (particularly the headpiece) because her sprite image is at an odd angle.

The first one, though... Kako has a Short Hair With Tail as well as an Idiot Hair, while the girl in the image does not have either.

Actually it's Kinu. She's pretty forgettable without her He-Man arm flex pose after all.

... "Kinu" who? <checks> Wow, that is one really obscure shipgirl that I never, ever, ever saw in any artwork, doujinshi, or manga before. And she's got the exact same decoration on her short sleeve, plus her boots are the right appearance (you can't see it because I had to crop it out to avoid extreme NSFW-ness).

Kinu has the same issue of all members of the Nagara class barring Abukuma — she's awfully generic personality-wise, and what's more doesn't have quite a colorful real-world history to make up for it. Heck, she's known more for her bodybuilder pose after all.

I wonder how popular ABKM would be without KTKM bullying her.

Isuzu has her infamous farming potential, and Yura has long hair, so they're not completely unknown. Nagara, Natori, and Kinu would literally go invisible if they lived in the Buffyverse.

Much like Samidare, Yura is also associated with Yuubari, so there's that too. All Kinu has is her funny pose.

By the way, the official artist of Nagara, Isuzu, and Natori, released a drawing of their, ahem, bras boiler covers, and it confirms that Natori is the heftiest of all her sisters. In "displacement".

Funnily enough, now that I actually start looking for Kinu, it turns out that she does a decent amount of fan art on the boorus. Strange that I never came across any before, though.

Well, it's that time of the year again...

So what's the development on The Greatest Generation? From what I read, the poor author had a rather stressful turn of events at his job, and that one person criticizing (or perhaps ridiculing) his fanfic was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Man, and I liked how the story was going, too. I hope the new guys who decided to step in and continue can release some good news about the fic soon.

It was rather honest criticism that was unfortunately worded poorly at the time. As for the latest development, the new co-authors have formed a committee and made some announcements on the Space Battles thread (and persumably the Sufficient Velocity thread as well).

Sorry for forgetting to ask this, but since my bookmark to the fic still uses the link to Sasahara's FF.net account (now dead), is there an updated link to the fic on Whiskey's (I don't know his FF.net handle) account?

Also, will Sasahara chime in from time to time to see how the fic is going, or will he be focusing more on real life now?

A link will eventually be posted. No idea what Sasahara will do, as he didn't say anything besides abruptly declaring he's washing his hands of this fic permanently and that he's asking the mods to ban him (which they did; he often did this before when he wanted to force himself to take a break from writing).

Asking the mods to ban him, just to take a break from writing? Desperate times call for desperate measures.

While the fic won't be the same without Sasahara, I'm kinda happy for him because the mods over at Spacebattles seem to care a lot about their members' real lives to agree to such a request.

Yeah, they even took some of the posters' worries that he might be at risk of going suicidal from real-life stress in the wake of the spat that led to his self-ban. "We'll be looking into it" is the gist of the response.

Asking to get banned is actually something Sasahara have done a few times before. Normally when they needed to focus on somthing else and didn't want to get distracted with the happenings of the forum. This time it have gone for a little longer but they kept in contact with people in the forum (some of his ideas were posted recently).

I have to a agree that the post that made Sasa quit was worded very badly, but it was something that they would be called on eventually. I actually expected someone to make a fuss about it sooner.

So, I was just looking up Yuudachi's wiki article to find out WTH is up with her "Nightmare of Solomon" epithet, and I was directed to this explanation.

Wow, just... Wow. What a clusterfuck.* What the fuck was going on?! [lol]

It is what they say: No plan survives contact with the enemy. Also, the weather is an enemy.

But yeah, that was a clusterfuck of an encounter, and as mentioned in the note on our character page, her "poi" tic is a reference to the uncertainty of what happened (which may or may not be true, but it's not implausible considering the amount of more or less hidden or obscure references in the game). There are a lot of conflicting accounts regarding the details as well.

Yeah, the account at the reddit page seems to be sticking to the only facts that are definitively confirmed as having almost certainly happened... meaning that Yuudachi could have actually killed more of the USN ships that were sunk in the encounter than that.

When it comes to warships, being sunk is quite often a cooperative effort (intentionally or not), since while some ships go down after a single, large explosion, many are incapacitated by shells incoming from many enemies and then scuttled. Yuudachi probably did damage to other ships as well, which added to the damage they took, and might or might not have led to them being sunk. She was pretty much in the thick of it, so she had, like, so many targets to choose from.
