Smaller, but better. Switch it.

Are there any larger version with the same/similar quality? I can barely see the animal the giant is befriending.

I made the OP image larger and added it to the page.

I have that movie so I did a vidcap of the scene in question.

I also did a vidcap of the following scene, with the deer about to sniff the giant's metal hand.

Here's the two, stitched together so you can see the deer more clearly.

I like the second one alone, with just the hand. The deer is way clearer, which makes the scale more obvious, and we can probably assume the giant hand is attached to a giant body.

It's also a little more generic, whereas (IMO) the current says something more like "the Iron Giant specifically is an example of this trope".

I'm okay with the all-blue caption. The links are all in separate sentences, it's not a chained Sink Hole. It fits this image less well though, since it's talking about a figure that is (mostly) not in the frame.

Maybe the Handyman?

I definitely like the one with just the hand more. The deer is a bit tough to spot in the full body one.

Doesn't say "gentle" as much. (Protip: Image link has a redundant "- ".)

[tdown] to 7. I feel like it detracts from it if all the focus is just on his hand. I preferred it when we could see the whole giant.

I agree with @14 here. With only the hand shown, the focus is not clear. It looked like the deer is the central image, rather than the giant

I like the full-body one for the same reasons, it more clearly shows the giant himself. and even if you cant see the deer as clearly, from his pose and the gentle sunlight filtering into the medow, the "gentle" part is clear

I think we're severely limiting our options if we insist on using that same scene. I'm sure that the Iron giant have other "gentle" moments that is more illustrative. Like this one, for example.
