Joke's on you! Marmalade already published an official apology on his website and paid his back taxes. The investigation is over and everything has been resolved, although he had to pay an additional 100K in fines. The media is just blowing things out of proportion because they're only now getting ahold of the story. Which sounds like a better headline to you: "Light Novel Author Pays Back Taxes and Fines." or "LOG HORIZON AUTHOR ARRESTED FOR TAX EVASION!"?

At this point in time, I wonder if Log Horizon falls under Germans Love David Hasselhoff. I'm not sure of how popular it is in Japan, but it seems to me that there's a disproportionate level of interest in the series outside of its country of origin.

The interest in Log Horizon is middling in Japan — the type of hero Shiroe is doesn't really draw as much readers as, say, Kirito or any other self-insert power fantasy. To give you an idea, the first book of the original Gate novel has sold more copies than all of the Log Horizon books combined so far.

If that's the case, then why does anyone think Season 3 is even a possibility? The anime has basically caught up to the novels, which generally is an adaptation's death knell, unless it's an extremely popular series.

Have faith, in the prophem Mamare Touno, for the invisible hand of the market will always find a way!

Because it's on NHK-E, that's why. This means that, as long as Mamare can churn out material in the intermediate future, Log Horizon can count on NHK-E to air it anytime.

Writer's in jail for tax evasion, and the Japanese government funded the anime in the first place so that's dead.

I thought the tax evasion stuff was a rumor? At least it was last I heard of it back when season two was ending.

Last I heard he got out of it on a deal.

So yeah, I have absolutely no memory of what happened in this in the first two seasons, apart from a vague recollection of it expanding its cast way too much in the second and kind of losing its focus. Watching that opening somewhat reinforces that impression. Let's hope I'm wrong.

Need to find a place to recap the previous season without stumbling on too many light novel spoilers I suppose. Doubt I'll have the time to rewatch the whole thing, tho I'm kinda tempted. Maybe the second season works better in a binge.

Second season does work better as a binge.

Also, first episode of season three is out! This are happening at a much faster pace than they did in season two, probably because they only have twelve episodes to work with. I feel bad for Raynesia, being married off like that. Makes me hope Krusty will return to sweep her off her feet.

I'm glad Krusty seems to be enjoying his time with Kanami. Interesting that DDD is going to splinter into smaller factions. That creates quite a few more ways the Adventurer situation can develop.

Touri seems like a decent fellow. Especially for keeping the Betelgeuse ripoff in line. I'm hyped for the election too.

I stopped reading the books before the Round Table council splintered, but it's been foreshadowed that the status quo at Akihabara wasn't going to last after the defenses went down anyway.

Ep 4 aired today. Was good stuff. I feel so proud of Rayneshia. She's grown so much from the cowardly, lazy princess of early Season 1. I have a feeling her election day speech next week will be the icing on the character development cake. :D
