I decided to make the biggest, dumbest crossover ever.

Representing print media is Wolverine, Darth Vader for film, Broly for animation and Cthulu for literature(Dracula is used more but is not as funny). When I got to interactive media I hit a snag. Is this kind of thing even possible for most games? I know it happens in electronic ones but who would be more appropriate, Lightning or Akuma? (I ruled out Pikachu because it is a species)

Better choices for any category of media or media categories to consider work too.

Wouldn't Mario be the obvious choice for video games? Or if you want a less cartoonish character, Kratos would be reasonable. Or Master Chief.

X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.

Mario, Kratos and the Halo Masterchief were all main characters. Them being in crossovers and promotions make sense for the most part, as they represent their series.

By comparison Wolverine was just one person on a team book. Not the leader (That was Cyclops, the Storm), not the most powerful (That would be Xavier), not the founder (that would be Xavier again), does not bring anything particularly unique to the team (besides being grievously injured many times) yet he's the one who got to be the face of not just his team but the whole company.

Darth Vader's appearance, background and personality likened him to Dr. Doom INSPACE (he later proved to be more sympathetic and interesting). He did not build or use the death star, run the empire and in the force he was the definition of big fish-small pond. Still Vader is the least surprising on listed. He was still pretty memorable and important. His merchandise seeping into things where he should no longer be relevant (due to being too young or too long dead or too non existent) is what pushes him into Wolverine territory. (I am open to suggestions to better film characters though)

Cthulu was just a cryptic background reference who was revealed to be some long dead race's high priest to some unknowable horror. I guess that would be something in another genre by an author whose work was not already filled with that kind of thing yet he's pretty much become synonymous with cosmic horror story and eldritch abomination.

Broly was a briefly built up Villain with few interesting traits beyond his massive power level and the interesting continuity snarl he created who never the less got to have two sequels and go a step beyond Vader by appearing proper in adaptations where he should be too young or non existent rather than just having accompanying merchandise.

Lightning is there because I do not play Final Fantasy and still know who she was. That the new story of the crystal was advertised as an extended project to flesh out a whole shared universe but has seemingly degenerated into the saga of another team character who neither lead nor was of overwhelming importance reminds me a little too much of Wolverine. Akuma meanwhile was an overpowered Ryu clone from fifth or so street fighter II that was somehow deemed a good choice to put in X-men Children of The Atom, Cyberbots Full Metal Madnees and Asura's Wrath (The latter would not have been so bad in concept but his actual appearance made so little sense that it falls firmly into Wolverine territory).

I guess that should make the kind of Wolverine publicity I am looking for (and Vader is not the best example, just the best example I could think of for film).

Sheik as in the Legend Of Zelda? She has been in three games, four if you count remakes. Ocarina Of Time, A crossover game using Ocarina Of Time's Zelda design, and the sequel to that crossover game. That hardly seems like Wolverine comparable gratuity or even Akuma's, as Sheik is nothing but a disguise used by a main character. Tingle might be a good choice though.

Bobafet might be better than Darth Vader, considering his amounts of exposure he gets in proportion to his level of significance in the films he originated in but he still does not seem to be used quite enough to qualify.
