My issue is that it looks literally like magic, which could lead to confusion that the trope is about a fantastic form of surveillance rather than the fact that footage taken by the camera is recycled footage we've seen.

No to that pic. The trope is about security footage exactly matching the scenes that the audience sees. The footage in the suggestion looks fairly different from the pic.

It was meant just to show how far Twilight had gone, hence why it was suggested for "They've Come So Far" Song. It's an unintended implication that it appears that Princess Celestia has been spying on Twilight the entire time.
