I can actually see the logic in it. Specifically, because of how family-focused she is, it makes sense if you interpret her life goal to be raising up the next branch of the Apple family tree. Taking over the farm with her husband and 2.5 foals.

That being said, even if that were her conscious goal, that doesn't prohibit her from being gay. In fact, one might argue that there's more potential for drama if a conscious desire for Perfect Conservative Family Values is undermined by being gay.

But that just depends on the kind of story you're trying to tell.

That's a good point. Also, I suppose part of it depends on how you would depict the attitudes towards queer ponies in Equestria/if Equestria is as heteronormative as our own society.

What I find hilarious is that Fluttershy being a 9 sort of got Jossed later on by "Make New Friends But Keep Discord".

I mean, you don't have to interpret Fluttershy as having totally been on a date with Tree Hugger but...I mean...Fluttershy's expressions and her general manner of behavior was some Lyrabon-level Ship Tease. "Oh, Tree Hugger, I've never known anypony as funny as you! (bedroom eyes bedroom eyes)"

Characters actually trying to hook up in the EQG movies and occasionally the show aren't as thirsty as Fluttershy was for Tree Hugger in that episode.

Question: What is a 9?

Presumably, 9 is barely being able to grasp the concept of being in love with someone your own gender. Like, just not seeing the romantic/sexual attractiveness, at all, of someone, or anyone really, of your own gender.

1 would be the same, but for the other gender.

@God Of Awesome: In this case, entirely and only into stallions. 1 is the same for mares. Numbers in between indicate level of preference for each.

EDIT: Also, in the fic, Rarity is making a bald-faced lie when calling herself a 9 as she'd had sex with another member of the Mane Six already.

Question for anyone who's seen the MLP movie and read the comics. I've heard that Storm King is apparently much smarter and pragmatic in the comics than how he was depicted in the film, and many people were disappointed by his movie characterization. What's the difference between Comic Storm King and Movie Storm King?

Better (and more) backstory, basically.

This is what happens if you relegate the backstory to supplements, and then basically neglect it in the main medium, making them come off as underdeveloped.

I dunno about competent. He's pretty gullible at the start, despite his won philosophy. This almost costs him a lot of valuable stuff, but evidently Grubber is godly good at engine repairs or something like that. It does explain why he generally prefers less competent underlings who will cower in fear and stay in line as a result, though.

The ones who lose out the most on their characterization, though, are the pirates and Capper.

Cower in fear, though? Those Storm Guards seem pretty indifferent one way or the other.

I don't see why the Storm King needed any backstory. They gave the tragic backstory to Fizzlepop Berrytwist. The Storm King was just there to be funny and wreck face, like a more villanous Discord.

I think that's more that every media seems to just not pay attention to the Storm Guards. I'm talking more about his officers, anyway, though. After the issue with his initial second-in-command, he pointedly makes sure that Grubber has no ambitions that would lead to a possible betrayal. It's also a bit of an indicator of how closely he's going to have Tempest watched because she falls into the category that might betray him.

What time do the premieres air tomorrow?

Just skimming through one of Pannic's liveblogs there makes me think those stories must be gold, because:

Pannic's clever and has a nice wry sense of humour, if this is the caliber of stupid you two put yourselves up against it must be great. I'll have to give it a read as well.
