No, Story is referring to the continuity of this thread's round robin fanfics. It's a very strange, very chaotic AU. In the latest story, Star Swirl the Bearded shows up and claims he's AJ's father. IIRC, AJ didn't believe him.

To be fair, being Ret Gonned is one of the most sensible explanations of the mystery of AJ's parents, since otherwise, it's hard to explain where Apple Bloom came from.

I just figured they died sometime after Apple Bloom was born.

The thing is that we see flashbacks where Apple Bloom isn't present, but there's still no mention of the parents.

@Tobias: That's not limited to the Apple Family. As far as I can remember, there's no clear case of two different pony types marrying. The closest we get is Cadance and Shining Armor, but Cadance, being an alicorn, is kind of a unique case. That said, it's pretty clear that it's entirely possible for the different pony races to interbreed, given how the Cake Twins turned out. It's probably just a cultural thing.

@Meta: Somebody needs to update the Insane Pony Author page, by the way. Dream On You Crazy Princess isn't even on there.

I would do it, but it feels kind of egotistical to write trope entries about your own work. But it's been a while and someone has to do it, so I guess I'll create one tomorrow if nobody else beats me to it.

The only thing I care about in regards to the Oscars is the Best Animated category. Which, unsurprisingly, went to Zootopia this year. Not that I mind in this case; I just know that nobody at the Academy gives enough of a shit about animation to watch most (or any) of the nominees. And that money talks.

I don't care about Oscars at all and didn't even realize they were going on.

I stopped caring when the LEGO Movie didn't get a nomination and I realized how much they didn't care. That being said, apparently there was a massive screw up tonight that I look forward to seeing everyone make fun of.

I stopped caring this time around when Amy Adams didn't get nominated but Meryl Streep got ANOTHER nom from a movie no one liked.

Apparently they messed up the Best Picture announcement (Apparently La La Land was the one announced for it, but the name on the envelope was Moonlight)

I think it's like two ponies are fused together somehow or something, idk.

There are a lot of possible things that the term could refer to; I'm not sure which one that post was using.

The way I general see the term used, it's a form of X-Over fanfiction for two (or more) works that look like they should take place in different universes but instead the author tries to construct an entirely new universe where both of them co-exist somewhat harmoniously.

Like my various attempts to combine the Dresden Files verse with Harry Potter, and then someone else did it better.

Fusion Fic.

On a different topic related to MLP, I had a dream last night where I was thinking about how the seasons might work in Equestria versus in real life, and I thought I'd share the idea I had. Basically, since the seasons in real life are because the Earth's tilt causes different areas of the world to get more or less sunlight during the year, in Equestria, maybe temperature differences in the seasons that aren't just caused by pegasi weather manipulation are caused by Celestia having the sun up more part of the year and less at other times of the year (with the equinoxes being when Celestia and Luna have their day and night times equal). I know that real science doesn't necessarily match the way the weather/climate works in Equestria, but this is at least somewhat supported by the fact that they have a Summer Sun Celebration that notes the longest day of the year, implying that day and night times aren't equal at all times of the year in Equestria (and one of the Expanded Universe books is about Luna having a Winter Moon Celebration in honor of the longest night).
