What's that one like? Does ti have a trope page?
The Protomen enhanced my life.20XX is basically Mega Man X crossed with rogue-like elements. Levels are randomly generated, levels contain items you can use to power up your character, but you lose them all when you die. Beating certain enemies and bosses earns you 'Soul Chips', which you can use to unlock new items so they appear in the levels, or buy items to start your next run with. When you beat a boss, you can take their weapon, or one of two random power ups instead.
I made the page just last night, and it's very much a work-in-progress, so checking out the Steam page would probably do the game more justice. It's 25% off as part of the Summer Sale, too!
HYYYPE!!!Time to update that YMMV.Red Ash page now that Mighty Number 9 has come out XD
...Did we hear ANYTHING about Red Ash since that prototype?

The Protomen enhanced my life.
Er...not really?
And something tells me they'll be even quieter about it given the current reception of Less-Than-Mighty No. 9.
I found it absolutely terrible so far. It both looks and feels like an old flash game. While the controls are precise, movement and shooting still feels off due to an almost complete lack of inertia. Well, as you said, it's still work-in-progress, so at least the mechanics will probably improve further.

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Checked out the Red Ash pages. The anime is going along just fine and introduced a character named Lucy, but the game's page hasn't updated since the funding was unsuccessful.
The English Twitter account's pretty barren, but the Japanese Twitter has updated very recently.

The Protomen enhanced my life.MN 9 main theme melody is named "Hope". RAY's ending theme uses the same melody but it was titled "Sorrowful Conclusion", literally "Sad Ending" in Japanese. The opposite naming thing with those two...sheesh.

You know, using those Xel-gameplay mechanics I mentioned before, I actually had the idea for a Mn 9 fangame that had strong metroidvania influences. In it you would play a clone of Beck with a clone of Call as your 'handler', reliving some of the fights from the original game. However the plot would derail as whoever cloned you from the real Beck would have nefarious plans for you and your abilities, resulting in the inevitable betrayl/escape and changing the tone of the story from a Megaman clone into a corporate/cyberpunk thriller. As part of this plot, you as the Beck-clone would discover your true nature as a copy of the real thing, and will try to expose your cloner's misdeeds to the public and escape their machinations. It's quite possible that the Call-clone who was meant to be your handler will actually decide to side with you and end up either taken hostage to lure you into a trap, or she will die spectacularly during the escape sequence at the moment of derail by pulling a last stand to let Copy-Beck escape.
The true final battle would be against the CEO of the corporation who has turned himself into a cyborg with Xel augmentations and similar powers to yourself and the original Beck.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Wait, what?!
Anyway, I actually really like this game, despite its flaws. It still feels 'like' a Mega Man game, which I guess, is the entire point. Would it ever have lived up to the hype? Never. But it certainly is pretty good as standalone and there is a nice potential for a franchise here, but it needs to be handled a lot better from here on out.
I'm with @3308 - the fact that the game basically tells you what Mighty Number is weak to your newest weapon is a huge disappointment. I would have liked it instead if the Mighty Number that helps is not the one whose weapon will make short work of the boss.
Also, Dynavolt, Stop Helping Me against Countershade. You're putting instant-death wires all over the only level in the game that lacks instant death traps. Not. Helping.
Side note: I really wish the new weapons were a bit more useful. Cryo's ice shot is really nice, and Brand's sword is excellent and versatile, but the other weapons? I guess Shade's is nice, but it takes too long to recharge compared to what you get out of it, and Bat's is situationally useful. And Avi, Dyna, Mic, and Pyro's weapons feel like complete wastes. Mic's in particular - feels a little Top Spin/Charge Kick-y to me.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.@Dark: While I was waiting for the game to come out my imagination ran away and created the outline for a M9 fangame.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! The wires would be there with or without her.
She just shorts out some wires in a room you'll probably only visit once
Also there should be an option to toggle off the Mighty Numbers' help like there is for Patch
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAlthough....given her personality, it would make sense that putting insta-death wires everywhere IS HER way of helping! lol
Jim Sterling sums up the whole debacle in his usual, vitriolic fashion. While he doesn't really have anything constructive to add, he did show footage of Ben Judd's infamous "better than nothing" quote. Needless to say, it was really uttered in a manner every bit as arrogant and condescending as it sounds on paper.

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Weird. Took a look at the game on the Xbox online store and for some reason, the Xbox One version has MegaXel Form and Golden Beck DLC available for purchase. Weren't those supposed to be backer exclusive?
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle. The store shows all DLC, even ones you can't actually buy.
Wasn't Capcom's shoddy DLC policy one of the reasons Inafune left the company?
Inafune left because Capcom's DLC isn't shoddy enough.

Non Indicative UsernameNeed I remind you all that Inafune was one of the main people responsible for why Capcom made so many questionable decisions in the past few years?
So are the sales for mighty no. 9 out yet?
Would those numbers include backers or not?
If the UK retail sales charts (combined formats) for this week are any indicator, it doesn't look good. Mighty No. 9 didn't crack the top 40, but Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE, which was released on the same day (and only on one platform), debuted in the top 20.
I hope you get tiny bits of eggshell in all your omelettes for the rest of your life! How long until the sarcastic reviews bump the game up to a Overwhelmingly Positive rating? Seems to happen a little often.
Try imagining how far the universe extends! Keep thinking about it until you go insane.People should stop doing that, it makes the review system seem inaccurate.
They can of course, thumbs-down it and still have a sarcastic review.
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!
If there's one bright side to Might No. 9's failure, it's that all the Steam reviews lead me to 20XX. It's in beta, but is so much more well-designed than MN 9. Being a roguelike, it also has tons of replayablity.
