Hopefully the dash button doesn't wear out from overuse XD
The Protomen enhanced my life.Didn't Proto said that Brandish form is most likely getting nerfed in the final build since the damage wasn't tested fully and it makes bosses really easy even on harder difficulties?
Ray would most likely get the nerf too, or like the others said: it is just the tutorial level, her dash changes in other levels after the tutorial to not instantly absorb enemies? Dunno.
Thanks for the clip.
Took a look at the YMMV page. Maybe I'm missing something, but what makes this an aversion of Serial Numbers Filed Off? Is it the dashing and combos?

The Protomen enhanced my life.Classic Mega Man is a relatively slow-paced platformer with shooting. This here is really more of a run-and-gun with obstacle courses.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence. Its different enough from Mega Man that a number of backers are decrying the product for not being exactly that.

Womp womp
Actually the pace is similar to Mega Man Zero's which was the superior MM play style
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIs there a way to request an addition to the Relation Status tab because I really want "Crying like an anime fan on Prom Night" to be an option?
Good idea .
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence. From what I look Zero and Gunvolt are still more fast-paced.
Non Indicative UsernameThat's true.
Although that's partially because Zero was on a hand held and had a tiny ass screen so you could clear the length of it in one dash.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersOr this could it be the graphics affecting people's perception when they see it on video. beck moves at a decent pace walking but because of the way his model moves it looks off and kinda slow. rather, it seems to be a problem with most 2.5d platformers, they look slower because of the extra frames of animation and the wider screen. Like said before by another poster, Megaman zero's small screen meant when you dashed and jumped everywhere, you jumped to the end of the screen, which meant you went pretty damn far. But when you look at mn9 it looks slower because of the larger screen size.
Also Zero's aggressive dash-n-slash Z-saber gameplay is way faster than Beck's shoot-n-absorb style.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Zero is a Glass Cannon with tons of offensive options and with the revamped dash mechanic he plows through mooks like tissue.
Non Indicative Username@Lion Heart 0: I'm with you on that.
As people have been saying, the game looks more like Mega Man Zero. As someone who loved the Zero games and Zero's gameplay in the X games, I feel a bit more interested/faithful in this.
https://thecheapferret.wordpress.com/2016/05/31/the-ferret-talks-gaming-screwup-on-screwup-action/#more-479 This explains so much about why the commercial failed.
A tldr: In fact, looking over these ads, I realised exactly why 90s ads felt charming in their cheesiness while Mighty No. 9’s felt so awful. Mighty No. 9’s trailer wasn’t weird enough. For all intents and purposes, it was presented as a modern trailer, but with a voiceover shipped in from 1993. There’s a clash there. It’s a confused corporate view of gamers in the 90s filtered through a cold corporate ad structure of 2016, so everything feels painfully forced.
And then there’s that line. “Make the bad guys cry like an anime fan on prom night.” The meaning is clear here; anime fans are sad loser nerds who can’t get a date and so will be lonely and sad on prom night. It’s perfectly in line with the tone of a lot of 90s ads, I’ll give it that, but it misses one key aspect of the whole thing – those ads were always building up players, and making them feel like they could kick ass. Meanwhile, the Venn diagram of “Mega Man fans” and “anime fans” has a large overlap and the marketers decided to call their potential audience sad loser nerds. Which, uh, probably isn’t the best way to go about it.
Basically don't try to act like that if the people you try to sell things to hate you. That joke from yu gi oh abridged making fun of the singapore dub had more earnest 90s charm in it than that commercial.

I think this is a glitch? dont know. looks that was given he's stuck in one frame.
Here's a wrinkle about the ad.
It seems that it was made and/or approved of by Deep Silver.
Deep Silver is the group Comcept made a deal with to publish the retail version of the game.
So Inafune probably had no say in this commercial.
I feel bad for Inafune actually. Because even when he's really trying, he gets screwed over. The deal with Deep Silver is what got Comcept the money to add in Ray (who is awesome).
Plus, from the MN9 FAQ. Bold mine.
They sounded so optimistic, its sad.
"A partner who understands our desires as game creators, and shares our passion for making this project the best it can be!"
"Make the bad guys cry like an anime fan on prom night.”
"shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit"
Forever liveblogging the AvengersDeep Silver is a pretty solid publisher in terms of quality. But their marketing staffers are the most tone-deaf morons ever. Remember the zombie tits for Dead Island?
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Zombie what
Thing is, it's not like Deep Silver is just complete garbage... but dear God, they have the worst PR department ever. And I note that they're also involved with Bloodstained - so I guess that's another game I've backed that will have a shitty commercial, too.
As for the commercial itself... it's not like the 90's were immune to trash talking in video game commercials. It's just that the trash-talking was mostly reserved for rivals in the industry (Sega was most famous for it, but Sony and Nintendo would get their digs in, too). Even the examples I can think of about taunting players were more of a Dare to Be Badass tagline (why, yes, now that you mention it, I do think that I'm bad enough of a dude to rescue the president). This one was just a random shot at anime fans (which would have been stupid and pointless even if there were no overlap between anime fans and potential MN9 backers), so it's not just painfully 90's, it's a shitty example of being painfully 90's.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Even when SEGA trash talks Nintendo, at least they gets the attitude and catchy tune. I say this as a Nintendo fan.
Non Indicative UsernameThis is essentially Kung Fury as opposed to, idk, Hobo with a Shotgun. It's a pathetic attempt at being "ironically" retro (sure, Hobo had its fair share of cringe, too, but for the most part it was a pretty authentic 'sploiter in the vein of Street Trash, as opposed to a cynical meme-ification thereof).
