My stance is that if you get offended by something I say or do, that's a problem on your end.
I never intend to offend anyone, and I respect people enough that I won't censor myself for their delicate ears.

I think seeing Unfortunate Implications everywhere is an overreaction based on good intentions. No wants to offend other people or dredge up hurtful stereotypes. Because a character can be a stereotype withoout the writer noticing, I think it's useful to a point, beyond where it gets ridiculous.
That reminds me of a question I've thought of for a while; if a stereotype is outdated and it really shows through in a character (eg an Irish guy named Patrick with red hair) are there still Unfortunate Implications?
