Couldn't find a thread for this, so figured I'd make one.

Teaser trailer's out. Not sure why they're doing Hooked on a Feeling, but it costumes themselves look interesting.

It's been removed.

As for the movie itself, I'm excited for it. I enjoy the more fantastical Marvel films. Also, Karen Gillan.

Shame it's been removed, but oh well. And I agree: Karen Gillian. Also, I'm looking forward to this due to me never hearing of this group till the last few years. Be interesting to work with a less well known works.

Hopefully it will be a second Iron Man and give the MCU another kick in order to keep it going strong. Fatigue could be a serious problem for the franchise in the next few years otherwise.

It isnt really all that much sillier than standard superhero fare. Actually, Rocket Raccoon, if voiced well, has the best chance of becoming a breakout character, really. You know, since he's the character that catches the eye the easiest and all.

Rocket will definitely be either The Scrappy or the Breakout Character. I can't imagine him being considered mediocre.

Managed to catch the footage before it was taken down.

Looks pretty awesome. I mean we get to see Rocket Raccoon stand on top of Groot shooting guns.

That is pure awesome.

And I love the final lines from John C. Reilly and Peter Serafinowicz:

"They call themselves the Guardians of the Galaxy"

"What a bunch of a-holes"

Also Hooked on a Feeling is playing because in the footage cut out, Starlord had a music player with that song on it

I hope he blasts it through the entire ship just to annoy his teammates.

So how likely is it that Star Lord and Gamora start banging each other before the credits are out?

Banging each other?

I doubt it. Star Lord seems to be a bit of a Jerk with a Heart of Gold in this film and Gamora the badass type of character who wouldn't take that kind of crap.

[up][up][up]Ah, I was wondering why it was playing. Felt like an odd choice to have in a teaser. It looked like the guy next to the raccoon at the end was singing along.

Star Lord? I think he was yawning.

Also here's footage that hasn't been taken down yet courtesy of the main MCU thread.

Kudos to comicbookwriter (the Troper) for finding that.

The one thing I don't like is John C. Reilly's delivery of his line. It feels a little forced.

You're right. It does look like he's yawning.

Addition: Sounded more like he's just letting off a chuckle at the name "Guardians of the Galaxy". Sort of a "I can't believe they all themselves that" thing.

I feel like there's gotta be more popular characters to do comic book movies of before this? Like a good Deadpool movie, or maybe even try Daredevil again? Or X-Force? Or Hawkeye?

From what I've heard, this film is setting up Thanos.

[up][up]But that's what makes the movie so exciting; the fact that Marvel has the potential to make gold out of an obscure team. And if this movie does do great, it basically gives Marvel the green-light to do whatever the hell they want.

Yeah, I don't see why comic companies have to stick with only the most popular characters. Some of the more well received comic-book adaptations have been of books most people would never have heard of.

Here's the kicker. Heroes become well known by being adapted into other forms of media. So, why not give more titles the limelight? You'll never know what'll catch if you don't.

[up][up][up] Shit, you're right. I hadn't thought of that. Guardians could do for C and D listers what Iron Man did for B listers. If this actually works, Marvel has an open slate to make any damn movie they want.

That's part of DC's problem. Their B-lister movies don't tend to do very well and so they try avoiding them. Hell, they're even trying to avoid making a Wonder Woman movie. Marvel thinks making a good movie is better than a recognizable movie, DC thinks a recognizable movie is better than a good movie. I'm exaggerating, but I think you get the point.

Didn't we have a long argument about this a couple weeks ago that Man of Steel definitely wasn't a flop?

Man of Steel wasn't a flop. It was successful. I think Green Lantern was too, but I may be misremembering.

I'll clarify that by "sell" here, I'm specifically talking about the billion dollar Avengers/Iron Man/Dark Knight kind of money. DC wants Justice League to be their Avengers. The problem they face is that Batman is their only character who can hit those extremes at the box office.
