I guess it's a new thread to go alone with all of the other gender roles threads. I am working on an idea that may or may not have unfortunate implications, but I kind of dont think it does when sufficiently analyzed.

I guess my main question is, mostly for guys: if you knew that nobody would care or notice, would you crossdress regularly in public?

i find women's clothes very exposing. like short-shorts and sleeveless stuff. i'm very introverted so i won't really wear those kind of stuff. long skirts and blouses are good though. also, heels. i find them rather amusing to wear. but IRL i don't and won't cross-dress unless i really don't have any choice, which in that case, i'd wear em with no care about the world.

though to answer your question. yes, provided i don't feel exposed in what i'm wearing.

Why would short-shorts and sleeveless stuff be a problem if nobody would care? You could walk around naked, even.

I don't think it proper counts as "cross-dressing" if nobody cares — the phrase implies one is crossing gender boundaries, but if those boundaries don't actually exist, you're just a Man in a Kilt.

Well nobody cares because it's impossible for them to remember you existing, not because said gender boundaries do not exist.

[up]Heh, yeah, that changes things. A detail you should've clarified before... or did I miss you doing just that?

I suppose it should just be "if nobody notices", not "if nobody notices or cares."

If nobody but me is going to know, then sure. I've always wondered what a skirt feels like.

Though, is this question supposed to be a lead-in to something else?

You've always wanted to know what a skirt feels like, which means that you're doing it for the novelty and may not do it regularly.

Not exactly. There are many more pieces of apparel that are considered female than skirts of hard fabric. :P (Only commenting on this because I occasionally sketch ideas for how male characters could wear conventionally-female apparel that nevertheless "looks masculine", and I'm myself not sure if that counts as cross-dressing or not.)

[up][up] I find it a little disconcerting that you would suddenly make an assumption about my motives like that. :/

Well if you just want to know what something feels like it still means that there's no guarantee that you would do it regularly. I try foods all the time and I decide I don't like them and don't end up eating them regularly. There are a lot of foods I do like and don't make regularly because I find them to be an inconvenience. I like bike riding but don't do it regularly for various reasons. There's no reason to assume that after you try something you will like it enough to do it regularly.

I suppose even I think of wearing a skirt as something of a novelty and I own four of them.

I mean do you think you would like skirts? Have you worn kilts and found them comfortable? :/

Well, consider the question you're asking.

Unless the person answering is already a crossdresser themselves, what guarantee do you have that they'll do it often if given the chance? Most of them would have never done it before, ever.

(Also, it's always a little upsetting to hear an out-of-the-blue "NOPE YOUR ANSWER DOES NOT COUNT".)

That is a good point.

Probably this is a bad question. Never mind.

Well, what exactly are you intending to find out?

Well I guess there might not be that many unfortunate implications, but there's the strange matter of Different for Girls because I have several pieces of clothing that were sold as "men's", and that certain articles of clothing are so heavily gendered that a character who's gender is actually supposed to be completely ambiguous would probably not be written/drawn as wearing dresses and skirts and the like.

@3 — introversion. i just don't like exposing myself. if hooded longcoats didn't catch people's attention i'd wear one regularly even if it's hot.

@9 — so you're not sure how to phrase what you actually want to find out. I know that feel bro.
