We're already dealing with a different cleanup now. Such cleanup would require large effort from users as it would have to be immediate as possible.
Permanent Red Link Club'd0s description of a deliberate redlink makes it sound difficult.
Also is the problem of finding all the redirects.
Maybe changing them to another color than red would work.
For clarity, would this constitute detecting when a link is to a redirect in Main to a page typed "work"? Is that technically possible?
I'd rather suspect it's going to be when a redirect Main.SomeName goes to a page named Namespace.SomeName. Assuming it gets implemented.

There's this. which means that even if a Main/ redirect is cut, it would still lead inbound traffic to an appropriate page.

I know the reason we don't just delete Work Pages In Main is because it would break inbound links, but would it be possible to give them the appearance of red links while still keeping the pages, just like the This Troper page? The red links would remind people to Namespace their links without breaking inbounds.
EDIT: I had another idea that may or may not be easier to implement, but has the advantage of telling the tropers exactly what the problem is instead of simply telling them "You are doing something wrong": when you go through a Main redirect, a banner appears at the top of the page with the following message
"You were sent to the [WORK NAME HERE] page in the [NAMESPACE HERE] namespace through a redirect in the Main namespace. The troper who added the link to this page probably doesn't know about namespaces or forgot to add it. If you have time, it would be great if you went back and added the namespace to the link you clicked on."
