Iraq has declared Tel Afar and all of Ninevah province liberated from ISIS. Still remnants kicking around by all accounts though.

Finally some good fucking news lately.
Oh really when? After Turku attack, Finnish cabinet aims to rewrite citizenship and aliens laws
The government is going through Finland's terrorism-related legislation and proposing changes to it during ongoing budget talks, says Terho, who represents a splinter group that broke away from the populist Finns Party in June – and has replaced it in the cabinet despite not yet being a political party.
Terho says that the government aims to change the Nationality Act so that citizenship can be stripped of any dual citizen who is found guilty of a terrorist act.
The leader of the Blue Reform parliamentary group, Simon Elo, told Yle that the cabinet is preparing a raft of changes to the Nationality Act and the Aliens Act.
Clearer rules against harbouring the undocumented
"We're changing the Aliens Act and the Nationality Act so that we can in the future, based on national security, cancel residence permits, impose entry bans, rescind citizenship or refugee status," Elo said on Thursday.
He says that rejected asylum seekers will be subject to threat assessments and detention if necessary.
"Punishment for those who harbour people who are in the country illegally will also be clarified," Elo says.
Terho also says that the government will ensure that police have all the necessary regulations on the use of force in the most serious violent situations.
Terho added that the government will more specifically criminalise the concealment or abetment of individuals who are in the country illegally.
More cash for police and Supo
The cabinet is also earmarking 17 million euros in supplementary funds for internal security, says Finance Minister Petteri Orpo, chair of the conservative National Coalition Party. Twelve million euros of that will go to police and the Finnish Security Intelligence Service (Supo), while five million will go to the Ministry of Justice.
The changes follow the stabbings of 10 people in Turku on August 18 – a case that is being investigated as potentially terror-related.

ISIS is running into the problem of many a doomsday cult: the Apocalypse is not arriving on schedule. Their core adherents aren't breaking but they will have to shift tactics if they want to keep up recruitment.
If The Last Podcast on the Left has taught me anything, this could be a bad sign as a common response to this scenario is to escalate even more than before. Maybe even try to make the apocalypse happen

London bombing update.
So at both the tube stations I use I'm seeing big signs telling people to pay attention and alert the authorities if they see anything. I suspect there's across the network but can't check.
Also the big news, a 19 year old man was arrested at Dover in connection with the bombing and is being transferred to London, the obvious assumption is that he was trying to flee.

Watched a NHK documetnary on the Dhaka attacks. Apparently, one of the terrorists involved is from Bangladesh and had Japanese citizenship (partly) after he got married. Name's Saifullah Ozaki.
He joined the attack because he's pissed at Japan not knowing what happening to fellow Muslims and he hates the double standards if some Japanese are killed, it makes the news. Muslims being killed in the Middle East don't get a load of headlines.
Baghdad has begun operations to retake Hawija, and are working with the Peshmerga despite disputes over the area and the referendum. We'll see how long that lasts.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. The attack in Marseille is only the last one in a series of attacks in my hometown that were ruled out as "someone crazy did it" instead of terrorism - after a guy who drove into people with a ute and a woman who threw acid in the face of American tourists. note
Well the dead guy who started the attack decided to have a go with armed soldiers, except that they shot him dead.
One of the women who got killed died due to her throats being slashed.

I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotPolice now say 50 dead, 200 wounded, surpassing the Pulse nightclub shooting from last year.
