I think that of those pictures, the first one gives the best idea of how the weapon works. You can see one extending and one retracted, and it's clear how it's supposed to be used.

Yeah, the first is best, and it's an improvement. It actually brings attention to the trope, rather than it being a part of the character that's farther away in an image.

Actually, since Iaculus and Another Duck gave the source image their , that's enough consensus. 4 is up, potholed, and tagged. Caption? Maybe "Get my point?"

In most cases, I start counting from the actual pic since someone might have an issue with the crop or resize.
I'm fine with no caption...I'd originally started thinking about something with "A spike in the hand..." but I couldn't think of something that would make sense to go with it.
