Actually, Uncle Grandpa started the exact, same time as Regular Show. Both shows were a part of that abandoned Cartoonstitue thing. You can see the original short here.
I know I'll probably be bombarded for saying this, but Uncle Grandpa looks pretty funny. I saw the original short before Secret mountain fort awesome and was hoping it was going to be as funny as the original short ( boy was I dead wrong.). Though it's not the newest toon i'm looking forword to, I'm going to give it a chance.
My Tumblr "If theirs one thing I'm good at, it's blowing" Jesse Cox 2013Didn't know that, doesn't really change my opinion of what it looks like so far. I'll watch the short and get back to you on it
I'd like to give the show a chance too, but if you go watch Cartoon Network for a couple minutes, you'll see one of those commercials I'm talking about. Those things are completely stupid, and I'm kind of hoping that the commercials were made by someone else entirely.
Well in 1941 a happy father had a son . . .Apparently his catchphrase will be "Good morning", one of the stupidist phrases one could ever create!
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceWatched the short, and other than a few good jokes, (Tony Danza, the joke about his father), it was pretty crappy; if the good jokes get sprinkled in with the crap, I think I'll be able to find it tolerable at the least, but I would probably still avoid it. Also, Uncle Grandpa is kind of an asshole.
Yeah, it's not the best of catchphrases, but if the humor is good it won't exactly be much of a problem.

Well in 1941 a happy father had a son . . .The problem seems to be that the core concept is too gimmicky. "He's everyone in the world's uncle-grandpa?"
It would work better as something similar to Gravity Falls, where the eponymous Uncle Grandpa serves in a similar role to all the cool-but-stupid grandparents of western animation, as a source of the plot, but not the main player in the series proper, like Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends, too. In both cases, wacky older relatives enable the plot without dominating it, which will quickly make for a one-note show (hope i'm wrong, of course.)
Now that you say it, I would like a show with him as a supporting character, but he just doesn't really work as a lead, at least in my opinion.
Well in 1941 a happy father had a son . . .I’m going to try to keep an open mind, even if I didn’t care much for the short (some of it had potential), and thought that Secret Mountain Fort Awesome was one of the worst things ever.
Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883!Honestly, it could've been okay—the idea is funny enough. Some of the jokes I actually laughed at. Most of them, though, I winced at. It just seems too stupid in execution to work.

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.you pretty much phrased it exactly how I wanted to. I'm still going to at least give it a chance, but it's already on thin ice in my book.
That was pretty terrible, but I'm hoping this is different.

Well in 1941 a happy father had a son . . .Judging by this show and the popularity of other new shows on Cartoon Network, one might say that surrealism is making a comeback of some sort. I think this show may have some potential, though.

Yeah, but while the other shows are funny, which is partially due to the surrealism, Uncle Grandpa just strikes me as stupid. Every time I see one of the stupid ads for it, I lose a little bit of belief that the show will be better than it looks like it will be. Of course, if we judge this by the merits of Browngardt's previous show, Secret Mountain Fort Awesome, the expectations shouldn't be that high in the first place.
Well in 1941 a happy father had a son . . .I just had a horrible thought; what if the Disgustoids show back up in this show?
Well in 1941 a happy father had a son . . .Well, I never saw SMFA, but I believe that it will leave a bad taste in the viewers' mouths.
You're lucky you never saw it. Fun fact: the main characters of SMFA originated in the original Uncle Grandpa short, and Uncle Grandpa appeared in SMFA. Not a good sign.
Well in 1941 a happy father had a son . . .I honestly think, in another show, he would serve as the unlikely hero in a group of more likeable, yet snobish cast members. When you think those cast members save themselves, you find it's actually Uncle that comes to their aid in an outlandish fashion. That actually seems do-able, considering you already know who comes out on top in the end.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceWho turned American.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceAny thread that starts with "look at this crap" is obviously going to be enjoyable.
I'd say this looks great! Oh, you don't think his role works best as a main role? Tell me. How many episodes of this series have you seen yet??

No need to get all worked up; it's just a matter of opinion, and as I've said before I'm going to give it a chance, because no matter how stupid it looks, I might be wrong. I'm not going to complain about a show I don't watch, I'm just saying that from everything I've seen so far (the original short, the creator's previous works, etc.) I don't expect it to be very good.

Well in 1941 a happy father had a son . . .maybe the problem is advertising. heck, if i judged Adventure Time or Regular Show just by the ads CN put out for it, i wouldn't have given them a second glance.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.I agree with you on the advertising for Adventure Time, and lately the advertising for Regular Show too, but in the beginning, the advertising for Regular Show was actually what convinced me to watch it in the first place. Anyways, I have said before that the advertising for Uncle Grandpa might be someone else, although I really don't have any other proof besides it being dumber than a bag of hammers.
Well in 1941 a happy father had a son . . .Speaking of ads, the whole reason for me getting into Regular Show in the very beginning(Besides the fact it resembled a mature Flapjack-based cartoon and my first exposure to cussing on CN) is it's song, "Everybody's Working For the Weekend", now one of my favorite jams during the Thursday shift I work on.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceYou do know "Working for the Weekend" isn't an original song from the show, right?

Look at this crap. It seems to me that someone saw Regular Show and Adventure Time and tried to replicate the weirdness without bringing anything even remotely funny to the table. Seeing the promos for this make me glad that I bought Regular Show on Blu-ray, because I won't have to see them anymore.
