Alright, for those of you that don't Know, Gnomoria is Basically Dwarf Fortress Light, BUT WITH GRAPHICS.

No, Not really. But it gets called that a lot.

Gnomoria is a Small, Indie Sandbox game that is a lot like TOWNS, but about Gnomes and much Harder. It's in an Alpha Stage, and is Pretty Cheap At the Mmoment, Costing about 7.99 USD. You should all go buy it.

It's also quite good for Co-Op/Succession Games. Anyway, we aren't here for that, we are here to discuss the game. LET IT HAPPEN.

I have really been waiting for an actual discussion on this game.

Drove already 20 kingdoms into complete death, with another 8 glitching out from save editing.

It's pretty good, and the save editor is a useful tool, allowing at least for a player to start their kingdom on peaceful before you let in the enemy hordes.

Insanity is fun once you get the hang of it.

Gnomoria. Is that a play on the mines of Moria? I'm guessing you make a Gnome fortress outside of a forbidden dungeon and have to outfit people to go down there and bring stuff back?

We don't have a page on this game yet.

"Dwarf Fortress with graphics" sounds like an excellent idea, given that (imo) one of the big reasons for D Fs huge learning curve is that the visuals and interface make it difficult to conceptualize let alone understand what you're looking at, what's going on, with what you can influence the world with and how that works in the first place (at least outside of adventure mode).

Too bad it's not available for Macs like DF is.

Nah Journey, it's basically just trying to keep a kingdom of Idiots alive for as long as you can. x3

And i'm currently trying to survive a small goblin army for a night so that i can get my next Import of Gnomads. Wish me luck. x3

Remind me how this ISN'T Dwarf Fortress with graphics again?

Kingdom of idiots, surviving goblins, and . . . gnomads? -Facepalms-

Because it isn't nearly as goddamn Complex, or Gory. If anything, it's more like Towns with more Colorful Graphics.

And yes, the game calls your new Gnomes that you get Gnomads... it's really fucking stupid sounding, but it works.

I've been enjoying it thoroughly.

Gnothing wrong with "gnomads". Gnomes gneed gnicknames. They're both gnormal and gnerdy and gnice.

Tough it has something that Dwarf fortress doesn't have (without mods): GUNS!

Or at least I think so. Never heard mention of it in the game.

Eh, if I wanted to play not-Dwarf Fortress, I'd wait for Clockwork Empires.

(Which I am. With loads of anticipation.)

I potholed Dwarf Fortress from the name Urist. Not everyone who will play Gnomoria is going to know Dwarf Fortress, or that Urist is part of that. If it's free, I might grab it myself and play for a while to see what it's like.

ETA: It's $3.99 off of Steam for next 45 hours. At that price, I'll bite. You'll get my opinion when I've played enough to have one.

ETA 2: -Looks at the name as if for the first time.- Gno . . . oh haha! Very funny. Gnome and Moria. Gnomoria. tongue

I will warn you, the depth system is a bit confusing. Other than that, have fun.

I figured out Depth, including the mouse wheel for movement. It's taking a lot to get used to, considering the way DF does things.

ETA: The complexity is give and take. They did take away the complexity from the military system, it seems, but since you need furniture to build workshops . . . I'd say it comes back.

Okay, now that I'm getting into it, I can give a bit better opinion.

The part about having to craft the ingredients is a lot less irksome when you use the Craft Ingredients checkbox to automatically make any missing parts. Right now the only problem I have is the viewpoint. Walls cut off the bottom corner of any room, which gets rather annoying. Otherwise . . . I can get into this game.

You could always switch to "half block mode" which lets you see whats behind the wall.

Or turn the camera. That would work too.

My first kingdom was obliterated by goblins while stuck in the stone age due to lack of metals.

My second kingdom was obliterated by beetles. Sure, I found metal, and a lot of it, so what, two beetles came in, ate my gnomes. The good thing? Goblinwurst was plentiful.

My third kingdom just died of thirst, because my ambitious well project went tits-up, and everybody with it. (fun fact, this time my yaks didn't die)

And I still can't understand the mechanics of Gnomish inventions. Not to mention them being time-consuming and costly.

Fun in all shapes and sizes. Snowdomia and Gnomoria, I tell you.

Current kingdom is stuck in a state of Harvesting and Getting Drinks made out of said harvest. Hoping i don't get a ton of Gnomads this time, as i'm at 18 drinks and 44 food, and i literally can't harvest fast enough, a ton of Gnomads will basically damn me.

Well it just got basically the biggest update so far, in the form of Diplomacy, Ambassadors, and other Kingdoms. If anybody wants to document some tropes on this that would be lovely, my internet is being a bit wierd or i'd do it myself.

I've been considering starting up a Troper succession game for Gnomoria. I'd like to gauge interest first, though. Would anybody here be willing to sign up if I got it rolling?

Okay! Now that I've figured out scaffolding so I can actually build roofs on my surface buildings (I come into these games to play the hardcore surface dwelling game) I'm getting into this game more.

One question: HOW does one turn on half-block mode, or turn the camera? I would love to be able to see everything in my storehouses.
