Seriously, all those awesome tokusatsu shows, yet none of you ever mention the Giants of Light from Nebula M78? HERESY!

Anyways, I've just watched the first episode of the brand new Ultraman series, Ultraman Ginga; no subs since it's posted on Tsuburaya's official Youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dHOzxbqWXs

Even though I don't understand much Japanese, I've could guess what's going on; there was this Huge Ass war involving every single Ultraman, from the original 1966 Ultra, and all the Heisei Ultras, like Tiga and Dyna, which means it's a multiversal war of some sorts. Also possibly EVERY SINGLE Kaiju and Antagonistic Aliens from the Ultra franchise. Then, this Big Bad appear and transformed them all into toy sized mannequins.

Meanwhile on Earth, the hero, Hikaru, just came back from England to Japan to visit his hometown (not sure if it is) and met his three childhood friends (maybe) and they hang out. He was told that a nearby shrine was destroyed by a meteorite and when the shrine was moved to an abandoned school—his old school—the head... Priest/monk (the old guy's knew Hikaru and co.) brought the meteorite with him to the new shrine.

At night, Hikaru took a sneak peek to the shrine like the curious teen he is, and discovered the Ginga Spark; the transformation device. When he touched it, the vision of the aforementioned war appeared before him. Then, Ultraman Taro appeared, in toy form, and told him some exposition.

The next day, he does stuff with a female childhood friend—the first one he met (possibly the love interest)— on the nearby mountains. She knew about Taro's condition, and when he tried to revive Taro into his original giant form, the device doesn't work. While the girl talks to Taro, the device detected a signal coming from the bushes (I guess it's like a metal detector) and found a figure of one of the classic Ultra Kaiju, Black King from "Return of Ultraman" (That's Ultraman Jack's show FYI) He tried to do the thing like he did to Taro and... Hikaru became Black King. And then... cue giant monster of the week wrecking his day.

From what I've learned, Ultraman Ginga is the counterparts for Kamen Rider Decade and Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. Except the human host, Hikaru (A 17 years old kid; THE youngest human host), can transform into any Ultra Kaiju. This being the first episode, I dunno what else he could do.

Oh yeah, Ultraman Ginga called out his attacks, just like how Ultraman Taro did with his Storium Kohsen.

For those interested, this site was once the ultimate resource for Ultraman. Now, the only way you can access it is through the Wayback Machine. Take a look, and you might see lots of interesting things to tickle your curiosity.

By the by, anyone here watch the Ultraman Tiga series, back when it was on the Fox Box?

Are you referring to the English dub? Not me, I watched the original Japanese on VCD; no subs. I can't understand jack, but as we all know, the language of awesomeness and kickassery is universal XD

Oh, and the Heisei Ultramen from Tiga through Cosmos were dubbed in Indonesian and I've watched the first four. Currently (I think, rarely watched TV anymore) Ultraman Max is being aired.

"ULTRAMAN! NUMBER SIX!" God, hella catchy theme song XD

I especially love that triple aerobatic kick he does.

Nexus is grand darkness, I say.

Cosmos is goofily whimsical but entertaining.

I find it hilarious that one of the most deadly foes of the Ultras at the time was a turkey with balls stapled to his chin.

Ah, the giant chicken, eh?

Maybe it's a case of Beware the Silly Ones? I remember some odd looking monsters from the Showa Ultras, but I know they're mostly deadly. Like the one with the drill nose, 1966 Ultraman Kaiju that appeared in Ultraman Saga.

Or —snigger— Black End from Ultraman Leo.

Then again, Show Baltan and Zetton are pretty cool.

Google imaged it... Damn, that's one funky looking alien. Then again, it IS an alien; they're supposed to look weird XD

Those two are probably THE most well known antagonist aliens in the Ultra Series, other than Mephilas.

Anybody ever played the Ultraman Fighting Evolution games? It may not be Street Fighter 4 or Tekken famous, but it has some awesome moments. I've played 3 and Rebirth, and I daresay that both of those games should have a tourney XD

Also, check out the Ultra Finishers of Rebirth here

I really REALLY want cinematic finishers to be the canon version; indicates that the Ultras are no longer holding back.

Speaking of censoring, the Showa Ultras are very violent.

How violent? Well, some the Kaijus died via decapitation/dismemberment from Ultra Seven's Eye Slugger (his mohawk dagger) or any of the Ultras slicy energy blades; some have BLOOD gushing out of them and... You know what, I'll SHOW you all. (While enjoying kickass songs)

Not to mention they fought them with wrestling moves, basically. How often do you see giants fighting with wrestling moves? XD

Also, Ultraman Leo started with Ultra Seven getting his leg TWISTED by a Kaiju, UNCENSORED. Just... DAMN! And then Leo flew in to save the day. Then again, his show is quite dark in tone.

Isn't Ultraseven supposed to have been dubbed?

Yeah, Ultra Seven was dubbed. Not to mention he is the only Ultra with lots of remakes; one from the 90s and Ultra Seven X (don't remember if there are more). I like him, but I still wonder why he's so famous... Must be the mohawk dagger [lol]

Have you guys seen the movie titled "ULTRAMAN"? It's a prequel for Ultraman Nexus, and part of the Ultra N Project (The Next, Nexus, and Noa)

The 90s Ultra Seven remake is renamed, shockingly, Ultra Seven. [lol]

Why not?

Sure, Ultraman Powered and Great may be mediocre at best, but I have fond memories watching Ultraman Great fighting a Tasmanian Devil-like Kaiju in Australia who was causing sandstorms. At least they're not... Saban's Masked Rider.

Well, it's their attempt to make a "realistic" Ultraman... Yeah, it's as real as the first Mecha-Godzilla blasting Godzilla and King Caesar with his entire arsenal. [lol]

At least he and Great appeared in that Ultra Galaxy Movie, where Zero debuted. Good to know Tsuburaya remembered them; and Ultra Boy! Not to mention the animated Ultramen (didn't see Jonias though)

By the way, what go you all think of Ultraman Zero? I wish his past was told more; who's the mother, why did Seven "abandoned" him, and how does Ultra biology works? Makes me wish Eiji Tsuburaya could've made all those details before his passing...

Tsuburaya was too busy on working on a never started mirrorman franchise and what became Return of Ultraman...from what I hear, his son was the one who made the Ultra family, Eiji wanted to keep Seven and the original and such seperate. ROU was supposed to have Hayata return and everything.

I see... That's something new to me.

So the title was meaningful until he passed away, huh? But on the other hand, we get the Ultraman Ace fighting Ace Killer story and Taro vs Tyrant. They're epic XD

Speaking of epic, check this out
