I'm hoping the film series reinterprets her as simply being protective of her territory.

Oh, so the Destroy All Monsters style sequel is happening. Cool.

I hope that means they'll actually focus on the monsters this time around.

I would like to see Mothra retaining her mythical aspects as a Eldritch Abomination of sorts in this franchise. Would be interesting to see the more sci-fi connnected Godzilla clashing with this more outwordly creature.

I thought she was guardian of Child Island and defender of creepy adorable fairy twins or something.

The shisa was the guardian of Japan, I thought.

I really don't know how they'll handle Ghidora, since he's rather inherently ridiculous looking.

It's a three-headed dragon. It shouldn't be any more difficult than any of the kaiju from Pacific Rim, or the MUT Os.

Plus with today's CGI technology (and with a bigger budget, which they'll most likely give them after the success of the first movie) they can most likely make him look completely epic.

For twelve seconds, before they pan the camera down midfight to focus on the American Heroman chucklefuck brigade.

Huh, you know that makes me wonder if we'll get Ford back as a protagonist.

I really hope that Godzilla is the protagonist of the next movie and Ford is a supporting character.

The movie did focus too much on Ford and not enough on the fighting.

I'd say keep the human perspective or risk loosing the subtext of the film of Godzilla being an inhuman force of nature.

In other news the same production company has announced they are making a film about Skull Island (The King Kong's Island) possibly I suspect a cross over may be in their minds somewhere.

Honestly, that's all I want to hear.

I still want Guillermo Del Toro to announce a crossover between Godzilla and Pacific Rim XD

UPDATE: We have now learned that Legendary was not specifically talking about the sequel itself, just that the three monsters will appear in upcoming “Godzilla” sequels, not all in Godzilla 2.

Well there goes my hype. At least they'll all be in future movies.

I'm actually rather glad they're not all going to be in the next movie, because it would be rather crowded, then.

Well, I think that King Ghidora is the least realistic of all of Godzilla's foes.

He's cool and all, but having a monster with three heads would just feel out of place in this more realistic rebooted series.

Even less realistic than Space Godzilla?

See, I want Mothra and Ghidora in any future movies because it would remove the "grounded in reality" crap.

Yeah, I'm really interested in seeing how they'll tackle Mothra. I'm also interested in seeing who's up next; I could see Mothra being introduced in 2 if it's Godzilla vs Original Monster again. But, I could also see Godzilla vs Rodan.

I kind of thought this movie was going to be Godzilla vs Rodan at first.

I want to see Mothra too. I wonder how she'll be handled.
