Episode 10. In which there are regrets.

"Could it be that you know and you're playing dumb?"
"It was a secret?"
"Oh, its a joke."

You know, the way people figure out Megu's and Ichimiya's relationship seems kind of random. No two people think and act the same about it.

Megu's gotten a lot of attention in the series. Not that I'm complaining.

There's a total of one person Saya's straight with. Someone she doesn't quite like. Otherwise she's just straight with people on accident.

It's always funny when anyone assumes anyone else is normal. They're wrong. Without exception. And if they say someone is weird, they're weirder themselves.

Somehow Chihaya just rubs me the wrong way. Well, she's fun when she's around Toko, but get her around her boyfriend and she just stops being funny. Actually, practically around anyone that isn't Toko.

Episode 10: Drink every time you hear any form of the word "regret"

Kanon Cosplay Defence Retreat!

I still get a wtf when I see the section manager.

Overall a surprisingly entertaining episode considering the best characters (Hasebe and Lucy) didn't do much.

Before going on, I would want some answer to a settings question. I'm quite sure Taishi's not receiving Burger Fool salary. But why it looks like the Ichimiyas are still having Perpetual Poverty issues...? (On the other hand... I can be sure Touko is a Sweet Tooth).

Perpetual Poverty is used whether it makes sense or not. If you have a full-time job and are unable to provide adequately for two people, you're either being criminally underpaid, or you waste money. Which should really also be said about the other one who's always broke...

As I sit here watching this episode I wonder if everyone in the office has forgotten that the doll is not, in fact, their boss' actual body.

Ah, Miyoshi, so good at reading people, but so bad at tact.

Episode 11. In which Hasebe is probably slacking off.

Megu, Saya, and Ichimiya, the Echo club. And later Megu, Lucy(abbr.), and Hasebe. I wonder if Megu is the catalyst?

"This one's cuter." Definitely.

Saya has mastered the art of ahoge-reading.

Hasebe has mastered the art of zombie-drumming.

Megu has mastered the art of cake-speaking.

Saya has mastered the art of harsh-word-stabbing.

Saya has mastered the art of who-she-will-run-into-prediction.

Seems like Saya's warming up to Tanaka.

Good quiz. She's wearing something different today. Underwear. Probably.

Before I give some reviews I'd like to repost this reply from jason_maranto from Crunchyroll, of which I wholeheartedly agree.

Lucy is an excellent foil for Hasebe. He is the epitome of a person who can do everything easily and finds very little challenge in life — thus he has "checked-out" for the most part, and lives in games. Lucy is unattainable, not because she is stuck on herself or anything that might be off putting, but simply because she is so dense/inexperienced... which provides him with a legitimate challenge for a change. On the other hand Lucy does not have any sense of moderation (starving herself for books and fixating on her name for example), something that the "slacker" Hasebe has plenty of.

This seems to be a theme with all of the pairings for the show:

Miyoshi is able to cut to the point very effectively, which is exactly what is needed with Tanaka. On the other hand, she could use a bit of his direction and focus (they refer to it as seriousness in the show).

Chihaya knows what she wants and moves to attain it with confidence, whereas clearly Ichimiya has very little confidence/drive. He on the other hand has the kind/supportive nature she is drawn to... and it is in that way he is very reliable, meaning if she ever really needed him he would do whatever it takes to support her.

In each case the pairing offers a tantalizing chance for more balance... which I see as very "yin-yang".

That's pretty much why I like Megu and Ichimiya. They work well together, and complement each other. Neither is visibly very passionate, but they obviously do have things they really care about, which includes each other.

I dunno, to me it just makes Chihaya look like a jerk and Ichimiya kind of spineless.

Well, if "spineless" is not the correct word to describe Taishi, then "beta" certainly is. I actually wondered if it's that possible for a person of his background to be like that, but that's besides the point.

Of course Saya has a lot of "regrets"— but does Jyoji have any, except for that one scene?

^^ Just reflecting that it makes me kind of disinterested in the relationship. Though I guess I've said that a lot now.

[up][up] Well, Jyoji and Saya are the least interesting characters. The only interesting thing about either of them is the reactions they inspire in others.

Episode 12. In which beans are spilled.

Megu makes an understandable mistake.

After saying that Ichimiya absolutely should not contact her in any way at all, Megu should expect him to not contact her in any way at all. She's known him long enough for that.

Did it need to be said that Toko likes coming there? Wasn't that part of her character since day one?

Megu should also know what Ichimiya means by saying she looks like usual. I mean, sure, that's not really what a girl wants to hear, but as I've mentioned several times in this thread and post, she should know better. By the way, she looks great even half asleep and worked out with messy hair. My hair doesn't look nearly as good when I pull out my ponytail... Then again, I have wavy hair, which tends to stick together much more than straight hair.

"Isn't it shorter than the one in the store?"
"Is that so?" *looks away, shifty eyed*
Eeh, she looks trustworthy. Nothing to hide.

Hasebe's idea of what outfit Megu made Lucy(abbr.) was probably not what she actually made, though Lucy(abbr.)'s reaction was rather accurate.

Lucy(abbr.) really is cute in that outfit. Good job, Megu!

And then he took her to heaven.

Megu fails at drinking. And you know, for someone so frank as she is, there are some things she's just incapable of saying.

"There's something wrong with Hasebe! He's at his desk!"

It's not like it wasn't obvious it was his dad.

For the first time, I think for once a girl actually looks better with glasses. Not having glasses makes Lucy look kind of plain. Also, the white clothing didn't really look that good either.

Why? I don't think light clothing looks that good on her. And frankly I just didn't like the looks of the skirt in general. It seemed like it was really trying to be cute but was nothing special. Also, like I said, it didn't suit her.

I just disagree, that's all. I think it works well on her. I normally like dark clothes, but this was rather good. And it didn't really seem like it tried to be all that special. Just something that was rather simple and worked because it was simple. Which isn't really how they described it when they talked about it, but then we're talking about Lucy(abbr.), who has extreme reactions to many things, and Megu who probably does see why simple isn't necessarily dull, but can be hard to make not dull.

I think she looked adorable in that outfit without glasses.

Her usual glasses would've looked terrible with that outfit, and she doesn't have enough money to buy a different, fashionable pair.
