Friends, I am asking this out of a mixture of shock, confusion, concern, and disappointment.
Why would you be willing to drop so much money on a game that has many similarities to every other game in the series (which can be bought legally for much less money) and looks like a budget PS 2 game?
Well, for starters, many of my favourite PS3/PS4/Vita games look worse than a "budget PS 2 game" and I question if Bomberman would even look better than that without looking very strange. That particular complaint is quite shallow.
Next up, I actually played it co-op at the Switch event and liked it. Plus this one has online play.

I doubt that they were charging full retail price and very similar to their predecessors, though.
And, if they somehow were, then I'm going to be falling on deaf ears.
Then we're done here.

They were full price. Some had the Atlus tax and were higher than full price.
Similarities... vary by game.
This whole attitude you're taking just seems condescending.

You're reading too much into it.
*shrug*
In any event, since we've established in my case that the graphics don't need to be super-shiny, I feel the need to tackle one point about the similarities to older titles:
It has been so long since we got a new Bomberman game. It's been what, 7 years? There has to be some statute of limitations for complaining about a similar follow-up title, especially when you look at games like Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty that got away with relatively-minor side-grades on a yearly basis until only recently where they hit the bottom of that well. If it ain't broke, right?
Plus the online play point I mention actually makes something like 80% of the sales pitch for me. I don't have any nearby friends to play this game with, the closest is a 3-hour expensive round trip to visit. Buying an older, cheaper game won't allow this.

Bomberman on DOS was my first video game ever. I still have fond memories of it.
Where there's life, there's hope.x7 Because you can play it online, on the go, which you can't do in the older, cheaper titles.
And quite frankly, because it's fun. There's a reason this series has been around as long as it has.
Never be normal. The franchise is not exactly dead, they ressurected it with a pseudo-MOBA bent, cute girls, and Clothing Damage.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Super Bomberman R is also coming within a month.
Joke is kinda not working for me.
Was about to ask if this really was a Bomberman spin-off before I saw the player character wearing a White Bomberman hairpin...
Eh, it doesn't really look all that bad to me. I'd try it, even though I'm sure I'm digging the MOBA-lite aspect (never really played the series for its multiplayer battles, even though I had a lot of fun in them).
But yeah, we already knew the franchise wasn't quite dead when the Switch game was announced. And now I'm wondering if Super Bomberman R might have a multiplayer mode that plays like this arcade game.
I'm chill with the cute Bombermoe girls. At least they have more character than the featureless drones from Act Zero.
...I remember that other game Atomic Bomberman, which apparently was a primarily Europe release game and had dummied out swearing taunts on the disc.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Long and bloody? I rather think the Hudson guy booby-trapped his konami rival's office with all the remote bombs he could scrounge up and asploded his head.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! The clothing damage thing has me despising this spinoff. I really have no patience for things where you get the impression that someone on the team was thinking "its hot because she doesn't want that to be happening".
I have a message from another time...Still better than getting gibbed.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Still better than that Castlevania pachinko machine.
Or the Metal Gear Pachinko machine or the...

That Castlevania one is the worst of both worlds, though.

I have a message from another time...The opening cinematic of Super Bomberman R, it's Cartoon Network-tastic and also really neat:
I'm surprised that I didn't find out about this sooner.
I was confused by things at first, but after a while I was watching the cinematic with a big goofy grin on my face. It's just so lovably cheesy, and the visuals look really great. So far it comes off as a more intelligent Teen Titans Go!.
I'd be lying, though, if I didn't say that I was going to miss the White Bomber's old voice. Ah well, que sera sera. It doesn't make me any less excited for this game.
"I shall not be foolish again, my dear Gwendolyn!"Speaking on Super Bomberman R, that game is the only reason for me to want the Switch. Seriously, been a fan of the series since Bomberman 64; so of course I want to play this new iteration of the series.
Don't Judge me, need more views: https://www.deviantart.com/big-k-2011 | https://bigk1337.newgrounds.com/ | https://twitter.com/BigK64133I have such a need for this game.
Super R looks good. Would get it for the Switch.
...I still have fond memories of being the BEST Bomberman duellist in my family simply because I used to play the Neo Bomberman arcade game and practiced in Deathmatch against bots until I got scary good.

$50 comes to $40 with Amazon Prime or Best Buy Gamer's Club.
I was prepared to buy at $60, so...
Amazon currently lists a $60 placeholder, though.
