It's a good series. I like the direction that it's going with the seventh book - the alternate universe was really interesting. I totally called Valkyrie's reflection turning evil at the end, though, ever since it started acting weirdly in book three.
"Steel wins battles. Gold wins wars."It's been two years roughly since I read book three, so I've forgotten most details
EXCEPT: Mr Bliss' Death

So, hey, anyone read Last Stand of Dead Men yet?
Its probably my favourite in the series so far.
Though I feel bad for Shudder. No seems to care he's dead near as much as they do about Ghastly.
I have, totally agree about it being the best in the series, loved the entire book, even the parts that made me sad..
There was a time in my life I had dignity, a time before the giant monster corgi.I often lose track of the characters myself.

So, Derek Landy has announced the title of the short story collection which is coming out before book 9:
Armageddon-Outta-Here.
Really?
Really?
And here we have it people: prepare to rage, rage against The Dying Of The Light.
They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver!I look forward to the sheer heartbreak that the book will give me, although I'm still not over L So DM.
There was a time in my life I had dignity, a time before the giant monster corgi.Ditto. That was heartless. Completely heartless. Poor Ghastly. And Shudder doubly so since nobody seems to give a shit about him.

If you're reading this you have 5 seconds to...I actually liked Shudder more than Ghastly, in fact I cared about almost everyone who died more than Ghastly.
There was a time in my life I had dignity, a time before the giant monster corgi. The cover of Book 9, ladies and gentlemen.◊
They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver!Fun Time is Over. Mostly.
Also, I garuntee that that Skull is Skulduggerys other one.
You just gotta love the subtitles. I've had the german versions, does the english first book also have that "Something as small as death won't stop him" thing on it?
Also, reading them on german is the reason why I haven't read Last Stand Of Dead Men yet...and why I hardly recognize any of them by title because the titles are completely different in german.
No you can't call me Jar(i) I am not a glass containerThe first book's tagline is "And he's the Good Guy."
Personally, my favorite is Death Bringer's: "Kicking Evil very hard in the face."
After "Something as small as death won't stop him", they didn't make the effort of making up new subtitles in the german versions...
No you can't call me Jar(i) I am not a glass containerGot Armageddon Outta Here. Finished Armageddon Outta Here. Brilliant, especially Get Thee Behind Me, Bubba Moon and The Horror Writers' Halloween Ball. Across A Dark Plain also gives some nice background on The War (Vile was gone and Vengeous was imprisoned by 1861, Neferian and Mevolent managed to drag the war on for a few more decades alone.).
I've also gained a surprising amount of sympathy for Caelan from Friday Night Fights.
I'm in the middle of Armageddon Outta Here, and I have to say that the fight scene in The Horror Writer's Halloween Ball may be the single greatest fight scene in the series, if not all of literature.
I prefer the moment just before. The empathy vampire is boasting about how mortals cannot begin to fight or comprehend him, after Skulduggery makes his costumed entrance.
Skulduggery burns his costume off and says who he is.
Vampire GTF Os.

They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver!I love Armageddon Outta Here. It's super good. Bubba Moon was good, and I really like The End of the Wirld and the Button.
The Dying Of The Light has been released, and the series has finished.
Honestly Landy, you know how to tear hearts up while making us happy.
The official Skulduggery Pleasant posted a cover of "And The Darkness Rained Upon Them" on facebook which is what Gordon was writing when he died and just, can somebody please tell me if this is real?! It would be totally awesome....
Edit: Nevermind. It pretty obviously isn't.

No you can't call me Jar(i) I am not a glass containerI brought a copy of Dying of the light and the short story collection today. But unfortunately I have to wait 22 days until I can read them.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome Rob
I quick type through the search bar showed me that there was no thread like this. So I've decided to start one about Derek's awesome urban fantasy series. As the title suggests, we can discuss plot, characters ect of the various books and short stories.
This should be a given, but remember to put spoilers on spoilery stuff after all there are quite a few
