Based on this post, I'm thinking of either a RP based on Namco x Capcom and Project x Zone or a cyberpunk law enforcement RP.

Thoughts?

Sorry man, don't know anything about the first two. But what do you have in mind for the "cyberpunk law enforcement" one? I like the sounds of that. I'm a big cyborg guy.

Just a bunch of peeps recruited from law enforcement, military and other organizations to serve as a special task force. The group will investigate a few cases that will be linked together.

I just don't want a Japan setting since it's cliche.

Agreed. Using Japan, or also New York, or a 1984-esque England, gets old. What do you have in mind? If you wanted to do something really unique, a futuristic Deep South would be out of the ordinary and there are so many atypical crimes that would be interesting to see being handled by cyberpunk cops. Neo-Africa is also an option that is far less cliche than Japan.

I'm thinking of other places that can have a Japan-influenced setting like Singapore or the Philippines for a change. Both countries have a lot of foreign expats. I probably will use a new capital or a developing city for the latter as the task force's base of operations.

My idea on the task force is inspired by the Thai Tourist Police since they recruit foreigners to liaise with the regular police.

Ah, good. That fixes the problem of not being able to have too many choices in character history(The one pro about America and Europe is the diversity, but fortunately your solution gives us the ability to have all sorts of quirky characters while still being in a unique place) I don't really know much about the department you mentioned, though, so are there any important specifics that we'd need to know you can think of for characters being hired, besides "This person is good at this job, so despite being a foreigner still gets hired"?

So how Cyberpunky will this be? Cyborgs? Jetpacks? Robocops? Popular recreational narcotics made out of the pleasure center of the brain? Entire cities with multiple levels? Perpetual darkness?

And I feel like there should be Segways[lol]

Well as long as the foreign character you're using has legal Philippine permanent residency and has prior law enforcement/military experience, he's hired to join the task force. It's also alright if the character is a dual citizen (e.g. The character is a dual citizen with Canada and the Philippines with prior law enforcement experience with the RCMP) or if he/she was born abroad, but has lived in the Philippines ever since he/she was very young.

The cyberpunk stuff's based on the GITS franchise as an influence, but there will be a fusion of others like Watch Dogs. I don't know on the Robocop jet packs though. tongue

But I'm sure we can work on the rain.

And I've got some nice Philippine LE / intelligence agency references.

NBI.

Philippine National Police.

PDEA.

PCG.

NICA.

NCTAG. (The task force will be under this group for story purposes).

The Naval Intelligence and Security Force is the Philippine Navy's version of NCIS. The Intelligence Security Group is the main intel agency of the Philippine Army. The 300th Air Intelligence and Security Group is most likely the intel agency of the Philippine Air Force. The Intelligence Service, Armed Forces of the Philippines is an intel agency that works for the entire AFP.

These are the main LE/intel agencies, but there are a few more. Although I didn't put them here since they aren't that significant.

For Philippine immigration stuff. Hopefully these help in creating said character.

Philippine visa policy.

Philippine citizenship acquisition.

PR visa.

For immigrants.

For dual nationals.

Alien Certificate of Registration I-Card.

Immigrant FAQ.

Petition to PR residency for foreigners.

Anything else, feel free to ask.

Just to add, the first idea is something of a crisis crossover where characters from Namco/Capcom/SEGA work together to defeat a big bad from destroying the multiverse.

Ah, okay, cool, so I think I have a better picture of the agencies now after glancing at those Wikipedia articles.

Cool. Now to with if a company crossover with Namco/Capcom/SEGA/another gaming company would be the option of a cyberpunk one in the veins of GITS (Mostly).
