Well, it's that time of the year again: No Nut November is back. You see, with my family, it's a huge competition completely ran by mom to see who can go the longest without busting that sweet, sweet nut.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Greg's No Nut November (also known as "Greg's No Nut November") is a black comedy Diary of a Wimpy Kid fanfic originally made by Reddit user u/SwagHawk42 for the subreddit r/LodedDiper, in the form of an L.L.B. (Short for "Looks Like Books," how the subreddit describes posts mimicking the visual style of the books). It revolves around Greg Heffley participating in a family competition to get though the eponymous event, and the dark twists and turns that lie ahead. The whole story can be read here.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Greg's No Nut November contains examples of:

  • Adaptation Name Change: Susan's real name is Sammy Twitchdic.
  • Adaptational Villainy:
    • Susan is the sanest of the Heffleys, and even in her bigger Jerkass moments, would never even consider tolerating the insane methods the Heffleys would do to win No Nut November, not to mention that he's also a serial killer called Sammy Twitchdic.
    • Byron's sole characterization was that he was somewhat of a jerk to Greg, but given that he was lazing around watching TV while he was stuck with a flat tire, this was understandable. Not so much here, in which he is willing to beat the crap out of his own family members for losing No Nut November, and even commits one of the worst domestic terrorist acts in America. Making it even far worse is that he was ordered to do this by Sammy "when the time is right", meaning that he willingly cooperated with a serial killer.
    • Uncle Gary was shown to be a teenager in an adult's body, but he is at least a Cool Uncle to Greg. Not so much here, where he has a restraining order for attempted child rape, and later is arrested for raping 6 children.
  • Apocalyptic Log: What the entire diary is revealed to be. To begin with, Greg sets himself on the inevitable path of death by jumping through a window to evade Sammy, where the glass shards cut him and spill blood on the diary page dictating his escape. And lastly, when he records his last moments while dying from hypothermia, his writing become more messy and illegible to the point where the last word trails.
  • Anyone Can Die: Let's just say that no one in the Heffley family is safe. The death count includes everyone but Frank.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Greg kills Sammy, his own mother, and ends up dying of hypothermia while trying to find his way home. He never gets to use his recently-won Infinite Nut Pass, instead joining the list of family members who perished in the No Nut November game. Uncle Gary is also set for execution after his child trafficking is exposed, which will leave Frank all alone. But the online news article at the end reveals that Greg's diary was found by authorities and is set to be released publicly next year, ensuring no one else suffers from the same fate.
  • Bullying a Dragon: When Byron loses the No Nut November game, Grandpa, who sabotaged him, mocks his endurance, boasting that he survived longer than him this time (Byron usually finishes in 2nd place). This turns out to be the worst idea imaginable, because the last time Byron lost, he pulled a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown on Aunt Cakey. As such, he shoots Grandpa, and 22 other family members, dead for it.
  • Driven to Suicide: Manny seemingly does this with Frank's shotgun after being eliminated.
  • Eye Scream: This is revealed to be Rodrick's fate, when Greg goes to his bedroom and finds his body.
  • Foreshadowing: Greg mentions that Grandpa has a tendency to sabotage NNN runs by sneaking up on people and that the last time Uncle Gary last, he ended up beating Aunt Cakey hard enough to hospitalize her. Later enough, Grandpa sabotages Uncle Gary and then foolishly mocks him, causing him to wind up dead not longer after.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: When Greg runs down the basement to retrieve his well-earned Infinite Nut Pass from Susan, Frank shouts out "Greg! No! It's a trap!". Cue the reveal that Susan was actually a male serial killer.
  • Full-Frontal Assault: Sammy goes on an entire chase trying to kill Greg, while wearing nothing at all. Greg eventually does this when he finds an axe in Hardscrabble Farms' maintenance shed, succeeding in taking down Sammy.
  • Groin Attack: Greg escapes Sammy's confinement by kicking him in the nuts.
  • Idiot Ball: Greg's fate is decided by this trope. He thinks it's a bright idea to try to find his way home despite the fact that he's naked, bleeding from glass cuts, there's a blizzard outside - a fact which he's well aware of, and which he is already safe from in the maintenance shed of Hardscrabble Farms, given that he has already beaten Sammy. Lo and behold, he dies of hypothermia.
  • Kill and Replace: It can be inferred that Sammy Twitchdic killed Susan early in the story and took her place, allowing him to kill Manny and orchestrate the deaths of most of the Hefley family. Absolutely nothing he or Greg say implies that Greg and his siblings might've been adopted, and Susan was apparently weird enough that Greg never noticed anything off until Sammy revealed himself to Greg.
  • Multiple Gunshot Death: Byron was taken down by 54 police shots, only being able to fire two before it happened.
  • Never Suicide: Manny's death is revealed to be this by Sammy, who did the deed.
  • No Body Left Behind: Implied by Greg when he claimed Byron was turned into red mist when he was shot 54 times by the police.
  • One Last Smoke. Parodied. While freezing to death under a tree, Greg decides to have one last moment of self-pleasure before he perishes.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Grandma is the one member of the Heffley family who disagrees with the No Nut November competition because of her religious beliefs on masturbation. This doesn't save her from Susan's murderous wrath, however.
  • The Reveal: The third act contains one shocking reveal: Susan is actually Sammy Twitchdic, a wanted serial killer who faked his death, killed Manny and hired Byron to murder Heffley family members.
  • Shadow Discretion Shot:
    • When Susan reveals her true identity as Sammy to Greg, she pulls down her pants to reveal her groin. Her actions are framed in shadows, and we only see Greg's shocked face.
    • Greg successfully lodging an axe into Sammy's head is also covered by shadows, along with the aftermath.
  • Super Window Jump: Deconstructed. While running from Sammy, Greg leaps through his house window. However, he suffers several lacerations because he wasn't wearing any clothes.
  • Tempting Fate: By the dawn of December 1st, Greg has ended Sammy's reign of terror, won the Infinite Nut Pass and plans on getting back home to enjoy this reward. He leaves the maintenance shed, believing that his future is brighter than ever. Cue the next diary entry revealing that he got lost in a blizzard and is slowly dying of his wounds and the cold.
  • This Is for Emphasis, Bitch!: After Greg finally ends Sammy's life with an axe, all he can do is mutter "Checkmate, bitch.".
  • Unsettling Gender-Reveal: Greg doesn't take his mother's gender identity reveal well.
  • Wham Line: These lines changes the reader's entire perception of Susan, starting when she takes off her pants to reveal something to Greg.
I was confused about what she was doing, until everything started to add up, and just when I figured it out, she revealed... HER PENIS?!?!?!?
Holy shit... my mom is a dude. A dude with a breast implant. My mom said she's not Susan Heffley, that she's infamous serial killer and gay porn star... SAMMY TWITCHDIC!
