Sonic Boom - The new Sonic cartoon

So, there's a certain Sonic news site that has a reputation for being untrustworthy, but there seems to be a certain amount of proof of this. So if it's fake, go ahead and lock this.

Apparently there's going to be a new Sonic cartoon written by Dave Polsky. He's done episodes for Friendship is Magic and South Park, among other things, and he apparently first mentioned Sonic Boom at an MLP convention.

From what their source is saying, it involves Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy Rose, and it leans towards “comedic in style”.

So, thoughts? I'm not sure what to think, unless I hear more about this. I'm basically expecting something like the cutscenes from Colors onwards, and if that's what we get, I'll be OK with that. I wouldn't mind something with more of a comedy focus, anyway, since Adventures is the only Sonic cartoon I've ever really enjoyed.

I think comedic would likely work better for the series, or at least mostly light hearted. The large majority of attempts to make the franchise serious just ended up pretentious as hell. So long as isn't just fourth wall over the top stuff non stop that makes it more a parody than a proper envisionment of the series it could work out.

Polsky's done some decent work (though his creation The Buzz On Maggie seems to gain nothing but flak here), so there's a chance he could do well.

Sonic Boom? Amy Rose as one of the characters? We getting a comedic adaptation of Sonic CD or something?

I'm still unsure if this is legit or not. It's sounding like Sonic Excursion: the Animated Series.

Yeah, I'm not so certain it's real, but it's certainly an idea I wouldn't mind.

At this point, though, I think the games themselves serve fine enough in this department. Back when they were making those animated shows (discounting Sonic X for a moment), the most complex the story ever got in the games was "Robotnik's got a mech that'll kill us all and a huge piece of bling to power it! Get some bling of your own and do something about it!" Plus, not much comic relief. Now? We've got Sonic Colors, for example, which is pretty much a more refined, less zany video game version of the Adventures series.

If this is real, I want the theme to be a cover of "Toot-Toot Sonic Warrior".

Wow, it's been a while since Sega would let a western creator make an animated Sonic. It's like Sega of Japan is trying to reconcile with Sega of America.

Wonder if it'll have the same abundance of Mythology Gags and fan service to previous Sonic lore like FIM did with MLP.

I, for one, welcome our new Sonic overlords.

I hope Blaze, Silver, Rouge and Shadow appear too. I always enjoy them in the games.

Man, if The Hub picks this up, they'll play up Sonic vs. Rainbow Dash for all its worth.

I hope they don't.

Oh man, if possibly Crush 40/Tomoya Ohtani/Mariko Nanba can get on with the music for it, then I'm sure to watch the heck out of it, but seeing as it's western, it might be different...

While I think these rumours are total bullshit (Sonic just isn't as popular as he was 10 years ago), I would quite like a new Sonic show.

I just don't see what the point of that would be, or why anyone brought it up in the first place. All I know is that "Sonic Boom" is still stuck in my head.

What Death Battle? There isn't a Pony/Sonic Death Battle. Sonic vs. Mario and Rainbow Dash vs. Starscream, but that's it.

Eh, still, I stand by what I said. Besides, both bronies and Sonic fans have a bad enough rep as it is. Promos by The Hub playing up Sonic vs. rainbow Dash wouldn't help things at all.

The Bronies wouldn't want to be associated with "those old hedgehog furries" and the Sonic fans wouldn't want to be associated with "those manchildren horse furries". It'd be inter-fandom chaos.

You really can't have a good reputation when your fandom revolves around the little girls franchise and started on 4chan.But, that's off topic anyway.

Has there been any other articles or follow up information about this? I would think the possibility of a new sonic cartoon would picked up more attention then this.
