Shhh
The pod person who replaced Kyun will know we're on to him.
Good review. Also like that they highlighted TMNT's spotty record over the years.
Well, it's just that, usually, you don't seem to really like the Critics' videos these days; hence the multiple comments that you've been replaced by a different person.
...
Why is everyone being rude to Kyun? In almost every thread I frequent, I see comments insulting Kyun's typing patterns. I don't like it. It's rude.
If I hated everything about the Critic's videos, I wouldn't go here. I started out loving it and I still like a lot of it today.
You know, I've really, really, really been meaning to watch this movie, just to give it the benefit of the doubt.
But I still saw this review and I still liked it fine. I'm glad that they found some redeemable moments and not go all "total rage rant" mode throughout the review and not blurt out how "it's the worst interpretation ever".
Anyone think Doug will do vlogs on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012) at some point in time?
And speaking of TMNT 2012, I can't help but picture/hear the characters from there (or at least their VAs) go all MST 3 K and comment on this movie...anyone have the same sentiments?
I can see Doug making a big deal out of the Donnie/April Shipping.
Haven't seen the movie or really watched or read much of anything TMNT-related, but even just based on the small clips in the review, the movie really doesn't look that bad at all. Looks like your pretty standard action movie and the Turtles seem relatively in character.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. That's exactly it; it's your standard action movie, with all that entails. And that means it probably isn't very good.
@TargetmasterJoe: Honestly, I'd really like to see Doug take a crack at doing vlogs of the 2003 series. IIRC, he hasn't seen any of it aside from Turtles Forever.

Interesting that they like the idea of April knowing the turtles pre mutation, since this was done before in the IDW comics, albeit in a slightly different matter.
My only gripe is that it was a Human-Focused Adaptation and all of the turtles save for Raph were Out of Focus.
That's not what I'm saying. There are good action movies out there. But the typical action movie just isn't very good, which includes the TMNT movie, the Transformers movies, and most anything else from Micheal Bay.

That movie did have a surprising bunch of good parts to it. But yeah, it is still a typical action movie. I get what kkhohoho means - it's not an absolutely terrible movie to watch by and large, but like most action movies it just seems like it took the source material and used it to reproduce the exact same action movie that's been coming out of Hollywood hundreds of times each year. It's not exactly a labor of love with its own personality, with a strong idea at its core, that kind of thing. Granted, the fun-loving personality of the turtles makes it a bit less bad than many in that regard.
I would think "typical" would translate out to "average" rather than "bad." You gotta judge these things on their level. It's no better or worse than your typical action movie? Then, by definition, that makes it okay. Not great, not terrible. Just okay.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. They may be okay for action films, but for films in general, they're kind of bad.
And what makes them bad if they do exactly what they set out to accomplish? If they have no pretensions of being anything more than big dumb action flicks, why should they be judged against the medium of film as a whole?

Insert witty 'n clever quip here. They'd bad to me because I don't like 'big dumb action flicks'. I can take 'big smart action flicks', but I can't take big dumb ones. And because film can do so much more than 'big dumb action flicks'; of course I'm going to compare them to what other films have to offer.

So it's not that they're bad movies, it's that they're not your taste.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.No. Not only are they not to my taste, they're just bad movies. Look at something like, say, Avengers. Yes, it's a Superhero movie, but it's also an action movie. However, for an action movie, it's actually well written and well acted. I can't really say the same for Transformers or TMNT, which are not well written or well acted. They're just not good movies, not even for action flicks.
There might be a debate to be had about whether movie-makers have a certain responsibility to produce thoughtful, inspired work of quality instead of giving people the mass-produced crap that sells. Like, even if a lot of people like those movies the way they are now, that doesn't mean they would still like them if the overall quality was better and gave them higher standards, or you could say that just because people want something, doesn't mean it's good for them. Just some examples from the top of my head. But that's a debate that goes far, far beyond the scope of this thread. Heck, even just the issue of whether the quality of a movie can be defined objectively enough to be worth arguing about in the first place.
Erod's and Critic's reaction toward Transformers4 was a bit overwhelming but oh well, that's their opinion.
I liked Bay's current two films compared to the last three Transformers films. Maybe it was due to them less being about disgusting jokes bust actually carrying a story. Yeah, there was minor gross-out jokes in TMNT but I'll live.
kyun are you okay
