Poor Image: Traveling Pipe Bulge

The "bulge" in the current image isn't all that much larger than the pipe itself, nor is it all that much noticeable.

I'd like to suggest this from Abobos Big Adventure

Is it supposed to make me tilt my head? I'm okay with it, but I don't really favor it over the current.

I agree the current is bad and I say it should be cut. The suggestion isn't clear that it's a pipe so I'd like to see more options.

I knew I should have grabbed a larger picture. hang on.

I don't really have a problem with the current one.

These suggestions look more like they are about a bulge where the pipe enters the wall than a travelling bulge, so I am going to [tdown] each of them.

Meh, well they are only suggestions. I'm sure if I could find a Wile E. Coyote cartoon, I could get a better example.

[up] That's exactly the example I was thinking of...hopefully a good pic can be found.

Yeah, the Looney Tunes cartoons contain lots of examples. Too bad that I can't take images from them.

I have some cartoons on disc and I'm sure we can find more on a certain "tubular" site. If I can't come up with something soon, I'm sure someone else here can. wink

Holy cow, tag should be changed to "Does Not Illustrate"; I can't spot a bulge at all in the current picture.

[up] I can see it but it's not very obvious. I'll change the tag to "Poor Image".

I think the proposed images are actually pretty good.

Please don't make empty "bump" posts. (If you have something to say, anything, fine. Even if the ulterior motive is bumping the thread.) IP threads are bumped by mods when they get clocked, and the clocking is often gauged by the "latest post" date or position on the forum page list of threads, which gets thrown off by the empty bump.

Clocking the thread is done because of lack of interest. Bumping expresses interest and since he had posted two posts previous all there was to do was bring attention to what was most recently said. I do remember someone (maybe a mod) saying that bumping in less then two days is too much.

"Clocking the thread is done because of lack of interest."

No, it is done because of lack of action (which sometimes follows lack of discussion, which sometimes follows lack of interest). Clocking means "take action now, move it or lose it". There are many useful actions. Such as starting a crowner. That might in fact be the best thing to do, and an empty bump will just delay that best thing happening. Suggest a crowner? Say "I think this discussion is languishing"? "I am interested in this"? Anything. Preferably with some content, but maybe not much... just not an empty bump post. Please. It is annoying at best and counterproductive at worst.

Clocking is an "official bump" and way more likely to result in the positive action that the would-be bumper might want.

Personally speaking, empty bumps after only a few days are just a minor irritant; I don't get bent out of shape over them unless they're close to the end of the 3-week clocking window.

Let's try to get back on topic...no one's found a good pic of this?

I think if we combine the two images in #4 then it looks clearly like a traveling pipe bulge.

[down] Yes, like that.

Lot of wasted vertical space; that could be cut down without losing the surface or floor of the water (since the bricks tile). Will edit later if someone else hasn't done it first

I did think of cutting the image a bit, but I didn't like the aspect ratio of the product.
