It has more to do with a lot of that info being sensitive and not wanting to cause more panic.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.

Or has the current narrative really paralyzed any possible opposition to Erdogan for fear of being discredited?

It's a strong possibility. They're keeping a low profile for now.

Enhanced security can, if used properly, deter or mitigate terrorism. Domestic violence is another animal entirely.

The point is, the state of emergency was prolonged because of the actions of one guy, not because the overall situation changed. It's all about public perception of danger rather than actual danger. So no, I'm not really trusting the French authorities not to abuse emergency powers. Certainly not to the degree of Erdogan, but they already used it to target environmentalists.

There is a difference between high alert, enhanced security and such via a state or emergency declaration and the purges going on in Turkey. Nobody is getting arrested in mass and are probably going to be executed just cause.

I wonder if Greece would like some shiny new frigates.

They can sell them on the global arms market to buy food for their cops.

Turkey's Post-Coup Slide into Dictatorship from Der Spiegel. Basically, a summary of the current situation, what happened and what may happen with Erdogan, from the military to the Kurds.

[down] "Turkish Politics" and the name of article pretty much gives all the context you need, but whatever.

You might want to provide more context, per the most recent update to forum rules.

Avoid posts that contain only links, without context. Not everyone can or wants to click out of the site to see what you're talking about. To help advance the discussion, quote relevant passages from the linked content or provide a summary.

In news that will surprise nobody Amnesty International are alleging that people detained under the recent mass arrest have been tortured.

I assume there's no new on the Turkish fleet?

Yeah, what happened to the missing warships? Or could it be an elaborate hoax?

"Turkish Politics" and the name of article pretty much gives all the context you need, but whatever.
There are a lot of things that could fall under the broad umbrella of "Turkish Politics" and "Turkey's Post-Coup Slide into Dictatorship". A brief sample of what the article is talking about (just one or two paragraphs from the first few ones) would've helped narrow that down to something useful that has a good chance of actually attracting people to read the article, instead of postponing or even skipping it outright for any number of reasons.

Wikileaks' "Erdogan Emails" aren't all they're claimed to be: they just doxed hundreds of thousands of women because they could. And the rest is private non-party communication that happens to be between AK Party members.

Because doxing Democrat donors was not enough.

I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiot

[up][up][up][up] This quote caught my eye.

After the coup, Western countries pledged support for democracy in Turkey, a NATO ally and an important partner in the fight against Islamic State, but have also expressed concern over the scale of the subsequent purges of state institutions.

Turkish authorities have suspended, detained or placed under investigation more than 60,000 soldiers, police, judges, teachers, civil servants and others in the past week.

In Ankara, the minister for European Union affairs chided Western countries for not sending any representatives to demonstrate their solidarity with Turks since the coup attempt.

"We are very surprised that our allies have not come to Turkey to visit even after one week has passed," Omer Celik told reporters.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.
