It's a strong possibility. They're keeping a low profile for now.

The point is, the state of emergency was prolonged because of the actions of one guy, not because the overall situation changed. It's all about public perception of danger rather than actual danger. So no, I'm not really trusting the French authorities not to abuse emergency powers. Certainly not to the degree of Erdogan, but they already used it to target environmentalists.

There is a difference between high alert, enhanced security and such via a state or emergency declaration and the purges going on in Turkey. Nobody is getting arrested in mass and are probably going to be executed just cause.
Also, if we want to discuss France, we ought to do it in its thread ^^
"You can reply to this Message!"I wonder if Greece would like some shiny new frigates.
They can sell them on the global arms market to buy food for their cops.
I wonder if anyone from Turkey has escaped to Syria?
Keep Rolling OnThats a scary thought, if they are military and brought their gear with them....or even just their expertise...
Final Fantasy, Foreign Policy, and Bollywood. Helluva combo, that......then again, there may be something scarier — Turkey may be developing Nuclear Weapons.

Keep Rolling OnI'll wait for a better source on that one.
Final Fantasy, Foreign Policy, and Bollywood. Helluva combo, that...Good idea.
Keep Rolling OnThe plot thickens, according to the Hellenic Air Force no one intercepted Erdogan's plane.

Si Vis Pacem, Para Perkelehttps://sg.news.yahoo.com/erdogans-mass-appeal-saved-him-coup-night-074055159.html?nhp=1
An article that explains Erdogan's public appeal that saved him from the coup.
Turkey's Erdogan shuts schools, charities in first state of emergency decree
Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleTurkey's Post-Coup Slide into Dictatorship from Der Spiegel. Basically, a summary of the current situation, what happened and what may happen with Erdogan, from the military to the Kurds.
"Turkish Politics" and the name of article pretty much gives all the context you need, but whatever.

Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleYou might want to provide more context, per the most recent update to forum rules.
Oh the shame.

“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranYeah, what happened to the missing warships? Or could it be an elaborate hoax?
Erdogan: SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING!
Inter arma enim silent leges...
It's official, people. He's just hit the Mugabe zone. Which means Turkey is officially an undead state: not really a failed one, but not actually functional, either. -_-

Wikileaks' "Erdogan Emails" aren't all they're claimed to be: they just doxed hundreds of thousands of women because they could. And the rest is private non-party communication that happens to be between AK Party members.
Because doxing Democrat donors was not enough.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotThis quote caught my eye.
Turkish authorities have suspended, detained or placed under investigation more than 60,000 soldiers, police, judges, teachers, civil servants and others in the past week.
In Ankara, the minister for European Union affairs chided Western countries for not sending any representatives to demonstrate their solidarity with Turks since the coup attempt.
"We are very surprised that our allies have not come to Turkey to visit even after one week has passed," Omer Celik told reporters.
It has more to do with a lot of that info being sensitive and not wanting to cause more panic.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.
